How long to wait for unpaid case to close? Some people are telling me to wait for eBay to resolve it and would email me when the case can be closed, while others say to close it after 4 days. Which one is right?

Hello 'markerizza',
Who, exactly, is telling you to leave the Unpaid case until ebay closes it? That wouldn't be the nonpaying buyer, would it?
You see, if you do not take action yourself, ebay will close the case on day 37, but the buyer does not get the Unpaid Item strike which I imagine you profoundly believe he deserves.
So yes, if you are going to open an Unpaid case, then wait the 4 days which allows the deadbeat to find the cash, - and if no response or payment from the buyer, close the claim and get your fees back. Then you can relist the item.
Have a look at the following link, - it clearly and plainly outlines the Unpaid Item process:

You should set your buyer requirements to block bidders with 2 or more unpaid item strikes in the past 12 months.
If you have to file an unpaid item dispute, add the non payer to your blocked bidders list.
