Lately I have had to cancel some sales for one reason or another

The  buyer changed their mind, the buyer said it was a mistake, another was because the item they wanted could not be removed from the frame --I have now got non buyers feedback piling up on my leave feedback page--How do you leave feedback for a cancelled sale? (which is annoying me especially as I had already packed the items ready to mail when payment was made and had to unpack them again and relist them and pay to do it! -- When I got the "I want to Cancel this sale" blah blah blah! ----What do I do or say to get them off my" leave feedback page"? I have never insisted that the sale had to go through according to eBay's rules; we all know why don't we (the flipping buyers have us over a barrel with the 'Negatives they could unfairly leave us) so we all have to cow tail to them.

Advice please.

Thanks tu-ee

There are two ways to end a transaction.

The seller can ask the buyer for a Mutual Cancellation. This is fast, immediate if the buyer agrees promptly, and give the seller back her fees. Both parties can leave feedback, however, so it should only be used when the communication has been amicable.

The seller can wait (I keep thinking four days, but I gather this has been reduced to two days) and open an Unpaid Item Dispute. This takes longer, since the bidder now has the choice of paying or refusing and time to decide. While neither party can leave FB, if the bidder does pay, he may be a little grumpy. The UID should be used when the buyer is hostile or has a left a lot of negative feedback.

The advantage of the UID is that the bidder gets a Strike which will prevent him from bidding with many, perhaps most, sellers. "Too many" Strikes and eBay will end his membership.

Now.

Take a look at your listings. And take a look at your listings with a mobile device. (There is a link somewhere that shows you your listings as they would show on an iPhone.) You are going to be shocked.

None of those videos will show. And all that negative print will block the actual description of your item. And not all your still pictures will show.

So for that Wade rabbit with the broken ear, if the bidder bought from a phone while waiting for the bus to work, she would not see the broken ear, would not see the written description of the broken ear, but would see the title, a tiny picture of the cute rabbit, and the price.

Then  after she gets home, makes dinner, helps with homework, watches the playoffs, runs a load of laundry and lays out tomorrows clothing, she reads the whole description. She sees she has won, reads the whole description for the first time, and asks that the purchase be cancelled.

How are you going to redo your listings to accommodate her shopping system?

You have the choice of positive feedback or no feedback.

You could also leave a Note on your cancelled sales to remind you NOT to leave feedback, if you don't want to leave any.

There is no penalty for not leaving feedback.

" Sale Cancelled by Buyer" - hmm. Try it once. If it is accepted you have your answer. And once shouldn't raise any notice from eBay.

WOW Thanks for the info on the I Phone bids I guess we sellers will oing to have to get the damage listed in the title would that work ? I still have not got a solution to how to get the the feedback of buyers that cancel off my pages

If I just write "Sale Cancelled" would that be allowed? Do I have to give them a nice feedback to get them off?

My philosophy is that non payers deserve unpaid item strikes. Buyers who make mistakes or change their minds are non payers and should be issued strikes. Buyers who ask you to cancel without paying deserve strikes. Strikes should be given a lot more than transaction cancellations. Transaction cancellations should be limited to seller mistakes or if the buyer has to return the item.

As other responder said, you do not have to leave feedback. There is no penalty for ignoring the feedback reminder. Besides, once the unpaid item strike is issued, neither one can leave feedback for the other.

Non paying buyers deserve unpaid item strikes.
