Good Afternoon, I know that the GSP Americans using it to ship to Canada has been discussed many many times on the boards and chats but it still troubles me that most American sellers do not think they have a choice. If I see an item on Ebay which I can't find anywhere else and the seller is using GSP, which most American sellers do, I always send a message to ask if they can use another method and even give them information on how to do that. 99% of the time they answer that they are not allowed by Ebay or something similar to that. Just this week a seller responded:

"Only way I can ship internationally through eBay is to use the method they provide as it is the only way I am protected as a seller. I am really sorry about the cost, that is crazy!"

Why are sellers so misinformed and why does Ebay do nothing to correct and inform them of options? Ebay is my last resort for buying these days because of the GSP being used for inexpensive light items. From the standpoint of a Canadian that has purchased hundreds of items here over the years, it's just so disappointing that our business in Canada is not valued enough to spend a little time educating sellers. I no longer recommend this site to friends or family because in the past shipping charges were completely transparent, easy to understand and cost effective and now many have been confused and mislead by GSP especially when using a mobile device. Could sellers not be prompted when choosing shipping methods when listing, that based on their sale price, what the best shipping method should be? Majority of sellers have absolutely no idea how much buyers are being charged when using GSP, and many have commented that they don't sell much to Canada anymore, and of course we know why. Are there any plans to educate sellers about shipping options to Canada in the near future or is that too much time invested for a small return?

Thanks

Hi Raphael,

For the past several days, my store has been getting the "Sorry, we are facing issues with the store. Please try again later." error message on an intermittent basis. Is this a known site issue at this time or something that needs to be escalated to be addressed on a per account basis?

Thanks

I would really like to know if we will be getting any Free Promotions Soon.  It has been a long time. We used to get them at least once a month.  That is the only way I can sell on eBay with making any profit. A store doesn't work for me. Also all my items that I want to relist will be gone soon as eBay only keeps them for 60 days.  It has taken me many hours & days to make these listings. I sell mostly vintage jewelry which doesn't always sell the first time but needs repeated relistings to get the right customer.

Hello Raphael,

I just noticed PayPal, Ebay and Canada Post say something different when displaying "expected delivery" dates.

PayPal (when I print my Shipping label says (just as an example): 6-10 business days

EBay says (on the ended listing): 3-9 business days

and Canada Post says: 6-10 as well

This was based on exactly the same sale.

EBay gets their dates from where? This less one day can seriously impact a lot of us for the DSR for "Shipping bla bla"

also............

I upload all the tracking numbers as we are supposed to and I have to do each one separately. If I check off more than one box, I get the first or maybe a random track # repeated on an incorrect item. Sometimes I can get 2 or 3 #'s that do not belong to that sold item.

eBay keeps completed listings online for 90 days. My eBay Selling only shows them for 60 days. All other eBay Tools (Selling Manager (free version and Pro), Turbo Lister) and third party tools (Auctiva, inkFrog, SixBit, and so on) show the full 90 days the completed listings are on eBay.

Turbo Lister is a windows program that installs on your computer and will keep your listings past 90 days. But Turbo Lister is hard to learn, is not reliable as it often has glitches, good for under 2500 listings (will work with more but it is slow) and is a PITA. My opinion.

So if you need to get the next 30 days, then subscribing to Selling Manager is an easier option. It looks like My eBay a bit but it will have a small learning curve. It will replace the selling parts of My eBay while you use it. You should keep it but you can switch back to My eBay later when you get a free promo and can list and make your listing show within the 90 days.

Relying on the 60 day My eBay to hold completed listings is not a good strategy and the 90 day Selling Manager although longer is also not a good strategy. That leaves eBay Turbo Lister as the only free tool to hold you eBay listings long term (permanently).

Some questions.

Why does My eBay only show 60 days of completed listings? It should show 90 days like all eBay and third party tools. It makes no sense to show 60 days when 90 days is available online. Having the full 90 days would help casual sellers a lot. It should not be difficult to make this change.

What is the future of eBay Turbo Lister? Is it ever going to be redesigned to be more reliable and faster to use. I use it to save my listings and have all listings (most anyway) from when I started selling 7+ years ago for future reference if needed (I sell OOAK items).

Regarding the eBay Seller Hub, are there any plans to be able to download CSV files to backup listings? I know there is File Exchange which is complicated to use but a simple CSV file backup for the Hub would be nice for Sellers with fewer than 5,000 listings or so.

PS I replaced my computer hard drive with a SSD (solid state drive) and while it speed up my computer overall significantly, Turbo Lister while faster is still relatively slow like before. I was hoping for a faster TL but not so.

Existing issue - pictures not showing up in search.

This issue has been ongoing for the past months and it getting worse based on the forum posts in ebay.com. It is apparently appearing a lot in a sellers My eBay Selling Active Listings, in watch lists, in search results for buyers and so on. Everywhere.

What is the status of this issue? Obviously it is a serious one if has not been fixed yet. Any progress?

Hi amya4295,

I think what may be confusing is that if an item is listed via GSP and gets sold, then the seller cannot ship outside of GSP. A seller would have to offer an alternate method of shipping on their GSP listing in order to be able to do that. So, when a buyer asks "I just bought this item from you, can you ship it to me directly?" and they say no, they are correct.

For the rest, I'm passing your comments to the GSP team, thanks for sharing.

Hi hlmacdon,

The account you're using to post this doesn't have a store. Can you tell me what store to look at, privately if you prefer?

I was not able to find any known issues for this, but will gladly report it if I can reproduce.

Hello dustmite007,

There should be promos coming, but I can't speak to what the frequency is or will be going forward.

Hi pacificwinds6875,

I'd have to get an item number in order to be able to see what you're saying about delivery estimates.

For the tracking upload, are you saying you are getting tracking numbers added to the wrong items? Would you mind sending me an email with a detailed step by step description of what you are doing and what happens as a result? Thanks!

I really have no idea about the future plans for TL, but if I had to guess I would think it's probably on its way out so I am not expecting many enhancements there, only maintenance really.

I'll take the suggestion to the Seller Hub team.

Hi Raphael,

It's under a separate account (business). I've sent you a pm with the store link and a screen shot of the error that is occurring.

Thanks!

All I know is the issue is tracked in the tickets system, which means someone is accountable for it. Last news I got there is that it's intermittent and hard to reproduce, but I haven't been in touch with that team in a while.

Unless something has changed, I believe that the GSP overrides any other shipping method a seller may be offering. I have never seen a GSP listing where the seller also had another shipping option for international buyers.

Has this been changed?

OOAK items are one of a kind items. I sell odds and ends of item, mostly computer used items and the quantity is usually one or sometimes 2 to 5. So I research the item to find out what it is and the specs, then write a description and price. Then when it sells, I back up to Turbo Lister to archive it for future use if I ever come across the item again to save time researching. I then rely on my memory to know if I ever had the item or similar and the use the search in Turbo Lister to find my old listings for details.

I have to assume many other sellers with OOAK items keep their old listings or research somewhere if they come across the item again.

OOAK items are a pain to sell because the time invested for one item can be long. Getting an OOAK item again is nice because the listing and research is all done and you know if it will sell or not.
