Misleading item description which does not match package content

In last few years, more and more, I have been noticing some item descriptions in Ebay listings which are totally misleading and untrue to make some buyers give away their money for something else that they did not want. There is no option to report this to Ebay and I don't know even if reported, Ebay would do anything about them. Ebay has changed a lot since about 5 years ago and although it is good that buyers can still get refund for items that are not delivered but keeping people's money for a long period of time by fraudulent sellers without sending anything is totally affecting the reliability of Ebay as online shopping mall. I have had such a bad experience during last 6 months repeatedly which has made me to stay away from purchasing more expensive items.

Today, I was just browsing the listings for android tv box and noticed an listing (eBay item number:272186551859) with the description that reads like this:

4K M8S KODI Android 4.4 Smart TV Box S812 Quad Core Fully Loaded + Keyboard Lot

but when you look at the package content you can read this:

Package Included:

  • 1 x 2.4G Wireless mini Keyboard with Touchpad for PC Google Andriod TV Box (without retail package)

  • 1 x USB Receiver

  • 1 x User Manual

So, this person is selling a wireless keyboard that could be used on tv box but the listing clearly shows TV box+ keyboard. How about that? And some people have already bought the item and who knows what they think they have bought. This is a poor standard. It seems Ebay has been infiltrated by some fraudulent sellers from other online stores which is causing serious issues for buyers.

These frauds have been around since I opened my first account here in 2001.

If anything, eBay has become more vigilant about removing them.

But the earliest removals happen when members Report the bad listings.

You don't get much sugar from this. Just a polite note saying thank you and they will look into it.

But those sellers do become NARU pretty quickly.

The Disputes and Claims system has had a few improvements too.

Sellers are now required to pay return shipping on Not As Described purchases.

EBay has clarified the deadline for Disputes to be 30 days from estimated delivery date , up from 45 days after payment.

Paypal has extended its deadline for Disputes to 180 days from payment.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but just like the poor, the scammers will always be with us.
