New Twist on Paypal Chargeback

I'm not one to complain too much about Paypal, it is what it is, but thought I would share an interesting chargeback story....

Completed a sale, Paypal payment was made, pos. feedback left on both sides, etc., two months later was informed that there was a pending chargeback due to an unauthorized payment, that's the only info Paypal sent me. I emailed the buyer, they said that their credit card had been stolen, and when they reported it to the cc company, they investigated all of the charges. They informed both the cc company and Paypal that the Paypal charge was legit, but no response.

A week later Paypal reversed the payment on me, but informed me they would fight the chargeback with the cc company on my behalf, would take 60 - 70 days or something like that. I emailed them, asking if they wanted copies of the emails from the buyer, stating that the charge was legit, but just kept getting automated responses back that they would handle it from here on.

I emailed the buyer, they were very frustrated, said they kept informing both Paypal & cc company, but nothing was being done.

Here is the interesting part, the buyer then paid me directly with an email money transfer, covered everything including Paypal's $3 chargeback fee. So it really looks like the buyer is and has been honest with me the whole time, and I do believe they were telling Paypal that the charge was legit, but not getting a response!

70 days later, Paypal tells me that they were unsuccessfull in fighting the chargeback. Then they send me a customer survey on how satisfied I am with their chargeback polices! How is it possible to have both sides (buyer & seller) agreeing that the transaction is legit, and it still gets reversed, obviously the whole chargeback system is a farce.

Another recent topic on the same thing.

Is a chargeback fee only $3 now? It used to be $10 US.

For last 3 years, every single chargeback was honored by PayPal. Regardless circumstances.

Their seller protection policy is a joke (I would call it false advertising at very least).

If chargeback take place we deal with law enforcement agency directly, as Paypal is waste of time.

The good part is that chragebacks is only fraction of percent from total number of transactions.

PayPals's logo should be : 'Accept and Pray'

After all, as it was said million times on this board. This is cost of business... Indeed.
