Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to know if anyone has used NAFTA (ot the general concept) to avoid paying duties.

I thought it stated that nay goods purchased from the US that were produced in the US were exempt form duties?

Looking forward to your comments.

Most goods are exempt from duties under NAFTA or not, if the items are dutiable normally using a NAFTA exemption form may get them through without duties.

Most goods that enter Canada from the USA are only subject to GST/HST and possibly PST, NAFTA won't change this in any way.

And you need proper paperwork including certificates of origin from the person you're buying from in order to properly make the claim. It has to come over the border with the right paperwork initially.
