Paypal dispute

So I got this email the other day....

Dear xx

yyyyy has opened a dispute for the payment made to you on Nov 27,
2006 indicating that the item they received did not match your original
description.

(item # 230054876042)

By opening this dispute, yyyyy is asking for your help to resolve
this issue. This is your best opportunity to resolve this problem before
the buyer escalates it to a PayPal claim or files a chargeback with their
card issuer.

I think this guys is trying to pull a scam the item was in perfect shape when shipped. I think he is just having buyers remorse.
There is a possibility the frame was damaged in shipping but I don't know that...
I hope it was because I can file a claim with canada post.
I offered him a refund if he sends it back but
He wants a full refund without returning the product???

I realize the buyer has the advantage here (especially in the cases paid by Credit cards), but if this gets intervened by paypal would they at least look at my flawless record with them and my otherwise good ebay feedback. Also the fact that the buyer is a complete nOOb.

Paypal are after making so much FXKING money from me. If he keeps the product and the money I am switching to bidpay.

This is the first time I have had a problem.
Anyways from your experience what will happen here if it gets escalated to a PayPal claim?

hey yellowtrek;
i'm not a super dooper experienced ebayer where i've sold 'thousands', but already, i despise how sellers have to feel threatened by buyers through negetive feedback, and they control us like puppets on a string. does he not have your email address that he had to go open a dispute first without contacting you? some of their claims are outrageous (full refund with shipping without returning product etc...) are just ridiculous, and paypal/ebay should be doing something about it and start protecting sellers a bit more. the way i see it, buyers have LOTS of rights compared to sellers..i understand buyers deserve SOME rights from bad sellers, but if i were you, i would respond to the claim that you had no prior notification of this problem, and that you don't feel you should have to do anything totally unfair just because you fear a negetive. i would gladly refund the item minus the shipping once returned, or have him send you pics if destroyed. and paypal should take the time at some point to actually REVIEW this case in depth to make their decision as opposed to just 'automated' replies.
i think buyers are extorting sellers too much these days with a threat of negetive feedback. i've been threatened twice, and have never backed down..eventually i was able to resolve the issue that resulted in a positive or neutral, i do have one negetive, but lets call that person 'one of many ebay i****s' out there.
good luck

Yup, there's a way, but not BEFORE you find out they're idiots! if he already left you a negetive, then i would negate him and wouldn't even acknowledge him again, OR, send a mutual request removal and meet him half way (reimbursement), only he if agrees to remove the negetive-the ball is now in YOUR court, since there's nothing more he can do, if he does want some money back, he'll have to remove the negetive.

MORONS.

Be sure to respond to Paypal, or they will automatically find against you.
You may as well agree to the return, as buyers tend to win 'not as described' claims. Paypal will require that the buyer provide proof that the item has been returned to you, so you will get your item back before he gets his money (your money that is) - although in what shape is anyone's guess.
I also have a suspicion that CP's insurance covers loss, not damage.

Not great, sorry this is happening to you.

Ann is entirely right. Agree to the return so buyer has to provide proof and return the item. You won't win a PP claim anyway. One neg does not damage you and I hope you don't conduct business with morons hoping to avoid negatives. I'm doing just great with 8 negs and god knows I try to make my buyers happy, but some users feel so sure you are out to rip them off that they really shouldn't BE using ebay. CP does only cover loss, not damage unless they do something like stick it with a forklift and they stick a note on the parcel (it's happened to one of mine). As with any business, you do take some losses. Sorry it happened, but it does. GLoria
