Paypal reversal because buyer left item unclaimed at the post office

Well this is now the second time I have been burned by paypal and there so called seller protection policies.

I sent a package to the buyers CONFIRMED paypal address, the buyer left the package at the post office and then claimed they never recieved it. Online tracking clearly shows that the notice was left for the receipient to pick up item at the post office. They ignored the notice and filed a non-receipt claim with paypal. And guess what? Paypal reversed their payment claiming that because they did not recieve the goods I was not entitled to the money! And the kicker is that since it was not a charge back but a reversal, I cannot claim through the seller protection policy. Then they go and collect the item from the post after the dispute is closed.

Ouch...now that's a shocker -- anyway you can contact the poste office in question and get them to return the item to you before they pick it up?

You can refile the dispute, once the dispute closes. There is an appeal button beside it. If tracking shows they picked it up you can appeal the paypal findings. You have 60 days to appeal after paypal closes the dispute

Yes i just have a similar charge back from paypal.
Shipped item to UK on the 18th via small packet air and buyer filed claim on the 26th!
That SOB probably knows there's no tracking # available and proceed to file charge back and keep the package.
What to do 😞

i could left him a negative feedback but then he would do the same to me, and that would even make it worse 😞

I think that this is one of those situations where you have an obligation to warn other sellers. This buyer may have done this to other sellers who were also more concerned about protecting their 'perfect' rating.

You may even find that a well-worded neg changes his mind about the scam and he asks for a mutual withdrawal.

Was the shipment to USA? If so, go to USPS website and report the guy. This kind of behavior falls under "Mail Fraud" and they take it very seriously in USA.

Good Luck!

I just had the same happen, almost.

When I noticed the Item had been carded & left @ the P.O.
for several days, I notified the Buyer about it.

He was happy I did, as card was not left (blew away? ) for him, he said.

Paypal reversal because buyer left item unclaimed at the post office

This is the first time happening to me, so I just want to seek advice before it's too late.

The buyer opened a dispute with Paypal claiming that I never sent out the item (without talking to me first). I have proof of shipment (shipped on Sept 13), insurance included and tracking number available online.

After looking at the tracking online, it says that USPS has left a note and package is ready for pick-up on Sept 21 (about 3 weeks ago). I've already sent a response to the buyer and posted message through Paypal dispute resolution. I am still waiting for the buyer's response, but I'm afraid at anytime the buyer or Paypal will reverse the payment or charge back. Would that be possible? Is there anything I can do at this point to avoid this?
Any help would be appreciated.

Paypal WILL reverse the payment as you cannot prove delivery. Since the buyer never picked up the item (packages are help for 14 days) it will eventually be returned to you.

Returns from the USA will be slow in coming but it should eventually show up (possibly with postage due).
