Quention re stores shown in search results......

Until recently when eBay's biggest jewelry seller flooded the marketplace with copper rings and bracelets my Store always showed up on the left for Matching Stores. That seller now has positions 1, 2 and 3(their 3 id's) because they obviously have more auction listings than I do. They had quit listing copper for awhile after their one id was shut down in last year's purge but they have started again with the rings and now with bracelets too.

What I don't understand is why the 4th store listed in each category is a seller with far fewer auction listings than I have. They have them listed in exactly the same categories. I asked Live Help about this once last year and they ended the chat when they couldn't give me a satisfactory answer and I kept asking questions.

Does this have something to do with this "Best Match" thing which I really don't understand? One of the sellers in one category has exactly 4 things listed in her whole store compared to my over 300 listings including auction and store listings. If the best match thing comes into play this way it really stinks and I might as well save my money and list only a few things in the store. Also, I am a PS which she is not and have better feedback.

Can anyone enlighten me on this? Thanks.

Quention re stores shown in search results......

Judy,

I tried a search for "copper jewelry" on .ca and .com, and the top matching ebay store in that column on the left both times was western star gifts 83 items.
I have seen this happen with my items as well, and noticed that it only counts auction and BIN items, not store inventory. And every different search term gives different results.

Quention re stores shown in search results......

Hi Mark,

Thank you for doing that for me. Actually, I know that my store shows up when the keywords "copper jewelry" are used. Where it does not show up is under "copper bracelet" or "copper ring" which are the main items that I sell and the ones I list the most.

I have also noticed that the stores with the most auctions show up, not the ones with the most store items. My concern is that I have more auctions than the 2 stores that show up last under those 2 categories. They are listed in exactly the same category and sub-categories as mine. I just want to know why this happens or if the results are skewed and why.

Thanks again for your input.
