Questions about International Site Visibility

Hi All,

I was perusing the Help Pages for eBay which have proven to be more confusing than helpful after going onto the eBay UK site. I was checking to see if any of my listings showed up there...but me thinks not!

Here is what I found in the help pages:

International site visibility feature
The international site visibility feature allows qualifying listings created on eBay.com to be posted on international sites (such as the U.K. site). Buyers on these sites will see the listings exactly as you originally post them on the U.S. site.

When posting a qualified listing, the international site visibility feature will be offered on the Review Your Listing page of the Sell Your Item form. If you select this feature by checking the International site visibility box, your listing will appear in the search results on selected international sites, along with domestic listings, increasing your exposure to international buyers.

International site visibility requirements
The international site visibility feature only appears in the Sell Your Item form if you meet the following qualifications:

You must have a verified PayPal account associated with your seller account. I DO.
Your listing must offer PayPal as a payment option. I DO.

You must have a Feedback score of 10 or more. I DO.

If you’re listing on eBay.com or eBay.ca, your item’s location country can’t be the U.K. or Ireland. IT'S NOT.

Your item must be posted in an eligible category. IT IS. Ineligible categories include video games, DVDs and movies, hunting knives, auto parts, and vehicles. IT'S NOT.

You must offer shipping to the U.K., Europe, or worldwide. Specifying shipping service to these areas is highly recommended, since listings without specified shipping may be moved to the bottom of Best Match search results. I DO.

Your listing must meet all applicable country policies. I AM SURE THEY DO.

It goes on to say regarding fees:

Availability and fees
Currently, international site visibility is only supported by the U.S., U.K., and Canada sites.

For information on fees, visit our fees page.

We're working on expanding the number of countries we can support through international site visibility. There will be a separate small fee for each country option, so you have exact control over where you want your listings to show up.

Fees aren’t refundable unless your listing doesn’t meet the other country’s requirements.

I use Blackthorne Pro and not eBay's Sell Your Item form. Does that make a difference? I can't imagine that BT Pro would prevent me from having my listings show outside of the US and Canada. I have buyers from around the world.

Am I just so old that I can't figure this out?

Clarification and directions for what I need to do....would be appreciated!

THANKS!
Susan

Well......50 cents for international visibility in the UK is way to high to pay for my listings! My items have all been reduced to $1.00 - $1.75 at the most when not on sale! Now...if it were 5 cents....that would be a steal!

So, I guess I'm going to have to figure out why I'm not showing up under Other Items from International Sellers.

Thanks for letting me know!

Re: Questions about International Site Visibility

Would it be an option for you to create an advertising UK ID and list your top movers on UK site? You may be even able to cross-link to your main Canadian eBay ID, but check with eBay policies about cross-linking IDs.

I currently do not advertise specially on UK, but when I was playing with it, it's definitely more lively than Canadian. Most of Europe shops on eBay UK, when I was playing with it it generated many sales from Spain too.

Re: Questions about International Site Visibility

To get visibility and hits from potential buyers visiting eBay.uk, it is a lot cheaper to advertise on eBay.uk through AdCommerce than wasting $0.20/$0.50 per listing for the so-called "added visibility".

Re: Questions about International Site Visibility

Susan,

IV costs between 10 cents and 50 cents. However, for 50 cents you can list a quantity of 1,000 of one item.

You could also list directly on UK but the IV method costs less and you don't have to deal with an additional currency.

Re: Questions about International Site Visibility

Pierre,

The issue with adcommerce is that one only gets a banner and not everyone clicks on it. Buyers like to see search results with item pictures.

However, as an added feature, adcommerce can do really well.

After the USA, the UK is our biggest market, generating aprx. $2,000 + sales/month. The 50 bucks or so we spend on IV is probably well worth it.

"not everyone clicks on it. "

True but you only pay for those who click! There is no charge for the millions of impressions where nobody clicks on the link.

A seller pays a fixed fee per listing for the international visibility option, regardless if anyone viewing on eBay.uk clicks on the listing or not.

That is the basic difference:
AdCommerce you pay for clicks to your store
International Visibility you pay to be seen

Fair enough Pierre; it's another way to look at it.

Re: Questions about International Site Visibility

While listing an auction (I seldom list at auction), using SYI3, I clicked on Help for International Site Visibility and eBay offered:

International Site Visibility

Attract more potential buyers by making your eBay.com listings visible in top-level search results on other eBay sites. Buyers on these sites will see the listings exactly as you posted them on eBay.com.

Requirements

Fees

There is a separate fee for each site you choose for this upgrade.

The fee is based on the “opening value” of the listing. For example, if your listing contains 5 items with a starting price of $5.00 per item, the opening value is $25.00.

Fees aren’t refundable unless your listing doesn’t meet the other country’s requirements (see Requirements above).

NO FEE was shown when I clicked on the "International Visibility" box for UK and NO additional fee was included at the bottom of the page (before "Submit:)

Why not! Let's do it.

Guess what? eBay charged my account $0.20 for the International Site Visibility Option:

GREAT BRITAIN 1957 QEII 3d Graphite Joined Pair NH#322d 390183782771 Apr-16-10 10:42:01 PDT International Site Visibility Fee $0.20

Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose! 😞

Hopefully the item will sell to a buyer from the United Kingdom. I hate to waste money.

Comme qu'on dit "C'est la vie sur eBay, habitue toi"

Paid IV is for UK only, correct?

How can anyone decide which of the one sites to choose?

That sentence raised the question. If there is only one site (UK), why have the statement?

Re: Questions about International Site Visibility

That sentence was taken OUT OF CONTEXT from the Help file.

It actually reads:

"We're working on expanding the number of countries we can support through international site visibility. There will be a separate small fee for each country option, so you have exact control over where you want your listings to show up. "

No such thing yet. They are working at it.
