What does the bid history of the item show? Is there any record of you placing a bid with 12 minutes left in the auction?

Based on so little information, no one here can tell you what may or may not have happened.  Sometimes there seems to be a brief glitch when a last minute bid is not accepted.  The bid history of the listing will tell you what bids of yours were registered.  In your Didn't win list on the left column of your My eBay page, the item will be there and will show Your max bid, and what was the last amount accepted.  Is it 19.95 or 30.01?
