Why has the shipping jumped up and what is this import tax?

Why is the shipping now higher than priority mail? What is this new import tax?  My item was $1 and the rest was $24!

USPS raises their rates almost every year and this was one of the years they raised their rates.

Since postage is based on weight and/or dimensions and shipping method, it's not too much of a surprise to me the item cost so much to ship. Additionally, the item is breakable. The seller may have used  a lot of packing material to protect is thus a lot of weight which mean higher shipping.

Expect prices to go up every year on shipping from US sellers.

Why is there such a high import charge whereas there never was an import charge before?  $14 import charge for 1 cup. Thanks.

Hi .. View the listing. In first section under shipping will see ..import charges ...to be provided at checkout. Seller is using ebay's Global Shipping Program managed by Pitney Bowes...

When i view that listing on COM i see shipping $20.60 and import charges $3.34. Hopefully ebay will soon display import charges on our CA site. I also believe it is wrong for PB to be charging fees on items less than $20.  import free, but it is what it is.

Can avoid US sellers using or let them know the impact this program is having on canadian buyers.
