I purchased an item, local pick up, and paid by cash. The item differed hugely from the listing and is really useless as is.Seller, new to eBay, refuses to respond to emails. Can I claim under eBay Protection and if so what are steps for doing so.

Hi ..Have no protection through ebay/PayPal. Paid and took delivery. Any issue is between you and seller. I see feedback has been left.

Paypal buyer protection would be applicable if you used Paypal to pay.
If you picked up the item yourself, why didn't you look at it before paying? Your only option now would be to contact the seller.

Why would you pay cash for something that was misrepresented? Unfortunately, you're stuck with the item.

All these replies are dead wrong. There is a mechanism to get refund from eBay. I 'phoned eBay and just started what seems to a lengthy process. This is not to say I am going to get it.What is a bit worrying is that all the replies say just between seller and me.I would suggest that better not to reply based on gut feeling and if you do not know the answer--don't post. Also, comments like why didn't check at pick-up absolutely not applicable here.I will update this,if possible,at end of process.
