I have a question about eBay shipping supplies. I've never had to pay tax on any of the items before but last June I had to pay $27.00 just in taxes for our free shipment. I had been out of the country for quite a while so I just assumed they changed how things worked, but I ordered again yesterday and didn't have to pay any taxes on my order. Is there any reason I had to pay taxes on my last order and none before or since?

Was charged taxes on purchases made in the 2nd and 3rd quarter. None for 1st and 4th. It was discussed and noted at the time but no reason was every given. Item descriptions do not currently mention taxes being applicable. Tax is only mentioned in under Terms and Conditions with the following: Coupon discount applies to the purchase price (excluding any explicit shipping charges, handling, and taxes) of an eligible item at the eBay Shipping Supplies Store on eBay.ca. Hello Tyler,

As a side suggestion it might be very helpful if Help Pages were dated or clearly stated in the footnotes a page supersedes a previous help page. The link above is dated 2019. This way eBay, buyers and sellers would all be on the same page. 🙂 vs the current belief we have lost our minds when researching help and discovering conflicting information.

I'm not sure what all of that means, but I ordered the exacty same item both times, 4x4" boxes, so I don't get the tax part for the 1st itme ever. Also If they are giving us a certain amount for our coupon, if you didn't use it all, why couldn't they use the leftover amount to pay the taxes.

Hi @bunbar - I remember talking about this last year, how odd that it's come back up. At the time the coupon team pointed me to the T&Cs for coupons that Lotz mentions below and reiterated that the coupon only applied to the purchase price.

Let me ask again to see if something has changed. I'm confused why you'd not see it for the rest of 2020 but then suddenly see it again for this quarter.

I'm not usually here in the winter so until this year, I was only able to use the coupons twice a year. Last June was the 1st and only time I was charged tax.

Also, is there any way I can start getting the emails from this board again. For the longest time I thought you weren't doing them any more, and only found out about 2 months ago you still are, I used to get emails letting me know another week has started and when someone posted anything new, but not anymore. It's not in my spam box
