Reached Limit?

I was making a listing until I got is message.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to complete this listing right now because you've reached the limit for the number of items you can list in this category.

Sellers who are new to a specific category are limited until they establish a good track record with us and their buyers. Your limits may increase after 90 days, when you've established a reputation as a successful seller.

If you'd like to review your account or increase your limits, please contact Customer Support.

I'm very confused I have 2 questions.

1. What do they mean by category? Because Art is category and inside of Art you have "Direct by the Artist", "Wholesale Lot", etc. Also thoses categoies have sub categories so what do why mean by category?

Also my selling limit states.

I can list 32 items for 2188.61

2. Where can I check my limit per specific category listings? I've checked everywhere.

You can list
32
C $2,188.61

Re: Reached Limit?

1 - It's the specific sub-category

see more info here: http://pages.ebay.ca/help/sell/sellinglimits.html#category (expand the Categories With Limits section to see a list)

2 - I'm not sure that you can

1.  'recped' is right -- eBay restricts many specific categories, and a lot of those categories include designer or name-brand clothing items.  I expect this is related to eBay's legal obligations vis-à-vis those brands and/or eBay's desire to restrict new sellers from unloading hundreds of name-brand items that may be either fake or at fire-sale prices (thus ruining the brand for eBay's established sellers).  EBay also wants to make sure that sellers of such high-profile items know what they're doing in terms of accurate description, authentication and customer service.

Even as an experienced seller, I've had eBay restrict the number of designer items I was able to list in a month (in my case vintage Chanel and Dior garments).

2.  You probably won't ever be able to do this.  If you check the boards, you'll see that even experienced sellers aren't able to confirm what their overall selling limits are, let alone for a specific category.  You will only know when you "bump up" against a limit, and then eBay will tell you.  However, as a brand new seller with less than a couple of dozen transactions under your belt, you can probably assume that a few designer items of the same type per month is about it.

I don't mean to be harsh, but I'll mention again that you should really have taken very seriously the advice you were given by many experienced sellers on these boards.  That advice was to start slowly on eBay by being a buyer for a while first, and then try selling a few smaller, easy-to-ship and lower cost items that are not high-profile designer brands.  Those types of designer products are more likely to get you into trouble until you know what you're doing.

Re: Reached Limit?

You seem to have listed duplicates.

When I check your listings, eBay.ca tells me you have sixteen listings (16 results ) yet only show 4.  The same thing on eBay.com

Re: Reached Limit?

also, one of your listings reads  "carmens" instead of "carmen".  Anyone searching specifically for "carmen" will not see that listing.  I checked.

Re: Reached Limit?

I took a look at your current listings.  The photographs are much better than the previous listing(s) I looked at, but I notice you still aren't showing the sizes you actually have available.

Here is a particular listing I refer to: 281245483626

As I mentioned in a previous discussion, you need to watch out about saying "All Sizes Available".  This can mean a lot of things to a lot of people.  There are women with Size 12 EEE width feet -- do you have that size?  I wear a size 9-1/2 D -- do you have a size that will fit?

In selling clothing articles (including shoes) you must be specific about size or there will be misunderstandings that buyers will blame you for (and probably rightly so).

Don't count on buyers contacting you to find out whether you have their size in stock -- make sure you have this information in the listing.  Many buyers won't bother to message you, but will simply hit the "back" button if they don't see specific size details offered in the listing.  At the very least you should have a chart in your description portion setting out the actual sizes (and widths - don't forget that!) which you carry for that style.

However, it would be much, much better for this type of listing to set it up as a multi-variation listing which will place a handy drop-down box at the top of the listing page.

Still, you must make sure you also show all the available sizes and widths in the description section as well (again, in an easy-to-read chart), so that buyers can see at a glance what's available.  Include a note above the chart directing your buyers to use the drop-down list at the top of the listing to make their choice.

If you don't follow this advice, I can almost guarantee you that at some point you'll be on the receiving end of a buyer's INAD (Item Not as Described) claim, and/or destructive DSRs, and/or further restrictions from eBay.  I sell a lot of clothing, and I know it's always a hassle to have to describe sizing in detail, but I do it and I've never had an issue concerning fit or sizing from my buyers.

Please re-read some of the advice you were given in earlier threads.  Experienced sellers have been through it, and believe it or not, generally want to prevent new sellers from learning through unhappy personal experience.

Re: Reached Limit?

It's because each one of your size variations counts as one.
