"Card Number" not allowed as Variation name anymore

I don't know if it's already been posted. I've seen other "Attributes" problems though on the forum.

So, today, I tried to move some products to another category on my Shop. I wasn't able because I get an error: "Card Number is not allowed as a variation specific.". I cannot save at all.

There is not way to export variations to then reimport under another name. There is no way to rename the Attribute to fix the issue. The only way is to wipe all the attributes and re-enter them, one by one.

That mean, when this happen, there is NO way we can fix this. We have to recreate the product entirely.

With 250 cards per listing, to redo manually, is painful. At least, I only have 7 listings like this.

Since this is a bug. (Card Number WAS allowed, not anymore and we cannot fix), a simple fix by ebay should be put in place. Automatic renaming ? Allowing us to edit ?

I just can't imagine what it would mean if I had more products like this. What if they disallow another Attribute name in the future?

What should we do to make sure we do not waste a lot of time, like this? Any other "Pick your card" sellers have this problem?

I've found a workaround using the Download / Upload functions of the Report section.

But it's not straightforward and I still needed to create a new product.

- Create a new product with 1 attribute and 1 variation.

- Download the data of your products in the Report section.

- (Keep only the product you want to update in the csv file).

- Change the "Item Number" with the new one. Make sure to change the Variation name in the file with the new one created.

- Upload.

Also, this will not import variations images. Only add the new variation with price and quantity.
