I have a level 2 account discount with Canada Post. YCS was right when he said that VCD is not giving the correct discount when the online or VCD software is used.
Here is my example:

29cm x 27cm x 12cm, 3.017Kg to zip code 10002.

VCD Quoted $21.88 inc. GST

Counter Rate $22.15 inc GST.

I would have received a 27 cent discount or in otherwords about a 1.3 % discount.
I paid the extra 27 cents and shipped it at the counter rather than have some kind of extra fee for cubing/ fuel/ surcharge etc and other fees that appear on my bill.

Thanks for nothing Canada Post.

Instead of a class action which will cost us $$ for attorneys fees (major $$$ taking on the post office and I am afraid my pockets arent deep enough) why not take the matter up with the Ombudsman responsible for the Post Office.

Also the press might be interested in another scandal with an arm of the Government.

Furthermore, the Industry Canada is responsible for controlling price fixing, false advertising etc. this used to fall under the Combines Act as well however there are several avenues to persue.

I guess with the class action, we could make claims for damages and loss business.

I for one, shut down 80% of my guitar business in the spring because of Canada Post and a change in their biulling practise with my account.

I wonder if we could get UPS to pay our legal fees to sue CP?

What if we put together an email r with our concerns and post it on the ebay.ca , ebay.ca townsquare, and a few other spots and somehow get a major list of signatures with ebay user ID's that agree with the contents. Would help if we could also get the # of parcels each sig. ships per year with cp..
I imagine it would not be hard to put together a list of 50 names that represent 100,000 Canada Post parcels per. (this would be an averaqe of 38 parcels per week. I think this would be a modest amount). I think the ombudsman would be interested.

One major concern that has ben mentioned is what YCS brought to light originally but has been echoed again on the threads . Canada post including fees into the VCD software even on orders less than $200.00.

Its complete kaka that anyone can get a venture 1 card yet they pay the same thing as I do with a "level 2 USA discount" to the U.S." when I ship through the VCD software.

But who do we add everyone that uses CP or people with just Accounts

But I really think that is a great idea . But these are people who have accounts with Canada post? . Or should we include everyone

First I think we should thank eBay for putting together a forum for the Canadian PS to be able to communicate as we are doing. Whether this was the intention or not, this could be the biggest opportunity for Canadian business to consolidate their concerns, opinions and ideas towards forcing a monopoly (CP) to put its house in order.

We have a great opportunity that has been given to us and we are collectively coming up with some fantastic ideas.

I, for one am excited to see where this takes us and hope that we constructively use this new "POWER" to see about some positve changes in each of our communities and in our business endeavours.
