You will need to make your Paypal account a 'business' account, and you will be charged a fee for using it. However, this is more convenient and cheaper than getting a merchant credit card account through Moneris.
You can also keep the PP account attached to your personal credit card and personal bank account for the time being.
But if you want online selling (not just eBay-- not all eggs in one basket, eh?) you may want to set up a special card and account just for your business. At this point it doesn't have to be a 'merchant' account.
Nor do you need to get a sales tax (GST/HST/PST) number yet. The usual amount bandied around is $30,000 gross. And I sincerely hope you get to that point ! Paying taxes is the real sign of a successful business.
But no, you can continue using your eBay account for both buying and selling.
Hmm-- if you buy on eBay for resale, or if you are buying for a hobby and also selling your unwanted hobby material, it is probably wise to keep those accounts separate. But not required.
Usually it is the Best Practice to turn a buying ID with some positive feedback into the selling ID. Buyers with low feedback are not usually discriminated against, but scammers target newbie sellers.
Best wishes in your new endeavour!
