Hi, I'm a new seller here. I am allowed 500 free sells a month. I wanted to know if there is an extra fee for 30 day listings or GTC listings? ... And if I relist an item, do I then have to pay a fee on that? ... Basically I am asking what kind of fees I can incur for the listings.. Not all the extras tho, like 2 categories. Just for posting a sale.
I also have an unopened box of c3p0 cereal from 1983 and was wondering if I can sell that. It has obviously expired, but I would be selling this as a collectable.
I am also wondering if I can sell maple syrup on here. I see alot doing this already. I am in Canada so may that hinder me from doing this? There is a place here in Nova Scotia that sells the BEST maple syrup in the world and I have access to it. I'd love to import this around the world.. this stuff is 'gold'.
Thank you!

eBay Policy about food
http://pages.ebay.ca/help/policies/food.html
Also I believe you need a license to sell food in Canada.
Personal experience at local auction sales.. The item offered contains food... however, it is stated during the sale that the auctioneer is selling the container as a collectable and not the contents, and that the contents are not to be consumed
That box of cereal.... Is it possible to open the bottom of the box, carefully, and remove the contents........
Always state the contents have been removed and how it was done.... if that is done ... Expiry date is a critical component for food.
If you do sell the box and contents on eBay... you must state that the contents have expired, and that you are selling a collectable, the box, and not the contents.... Shipping to the US may be a problem... check Canada Post regulations in relation to shipping to the US.
About the maple syrup.... requires some form of "selling license" as it is food....Canada only versus internationally
Maple syrup Is being sold on eBay.... search eBay.... It is a liquid and must be packaged carefully.
Maple syrup should be packaged in plastic.... and then shipped sealed in a plastic bag... several layers of plastic most likely.... See what eBay sellers are doing...
Consult Canada Post site for information about shipping a lquid such as maple syrup.... It is liquid and heavy

"I am allowed 500 free sells a month"
Sellers without a store get 50 (not 500) "free" insertion fees a month. Sellers still pay optional features and Final Value Fees (10%) of transaction total (price and shipping).
To determine what sells and what does not sell, check around what other sellers offer, and the price they get. Keep in mind that most listings on eBay do not sell in a week or a month.
Check the fee schedule for more details.

You can list for 30 days and get billed for a 30 day insertion fee.
Without a store the first 50 listings in a month, starting the first day of a month, are free, with no listing fees.,,, Final Value Fees (FVF) apply
A new seller ... just starting on eBay must establish a selling presence on eBay before they will be allowed to open a store..
If you sell Maple Syrup on eBay, one listing will work; for each size or style of container... and you should never go above 50 listings a month....unless you sell other items on eBay
Eventually a store may work well for visibility on eBay... but as a new seller it will be fixed price, for 30 days or GTC, without a store
You can list GTC, Good Till Cancelled, and you are billed a fee for every 30 days the item is listed....
The fee is a fee for 30 days... whether for a single 30 day period or for GTC...and the fee is the same for every 30 days of listing
You should check... If you list at auction, and it does not sell, there is no fee wihen you list a second time... only auctions.... but check and verify as I have not sold at auction since March 2006....
The best thing for someone new on eBay is to go to Customer Support.... search and do a lot of reading...I did over two months of reading before I started selling on eBay, and that was over 10 years ago... eBay is a lot more complicated today

You should use an image other than Tiger from Winnie the Pooh...
Using Tiger is most likely goes against Copyright rules .
It may make sense if you sell honey... but... it is most likely a copyright violation.
Use an image that is your and yours only.... or an image that is in the public domain and not copyrighted...Be careful....

Thank you for the in depth advice pierre & cumos... even what you said about avatars boing copywritten.. I've never seen that one before. I guess ebay has to cover all their angles no matter how much an issue it is.
I just wish I could sell maple syrup on here... even around the world.. I know people would pay good money for it. It just isn't bacon n eggs without that ole syrup oozing off your flapjacks! 😛
