Can someone help me figure out exactly how much I will need to pay for these shoes?

I'm planning on buying a pair of basketball shoes for $180.00 and I'm still not fully understanding the fees I will have to pay in order to receive the shoes. Can someone explain to me how much it will cost if it is shipped here from New York to Toronto and why it will cost that much?

US$180 = Cdn$ 300 to $400  by the time you add the shipping charge, the taxes (GST/HST/PST), duty (if applicable), brokerage fee and conversion from US$ to Cdn$ (about 27% to 30% more)

To give you a more accurate reply, we would need to know more, such as the listing number.

Since you are new to eBay, I strongly recommend your first purchases be limited to low priced goods purchased from sellers located in Canada.

Wait, 180 USD converts to 300-400 CDN? When I converted it on some website, it said 225?

Once again, you need to add

- shipping

- duty (if applicable - for goods not manufactured in USA)

- taxes (GST/HST/PST) (taxes apply on the duty paid value; in other words you pay tax on duty)

- brokerage fee - may vary depending on carrier. (for example if the seller uses UPS, you can expect to pay $60 in fees - brokerage and misc. http://www.ups.com/content/ca/en/shipping/cost/zones/customs_clearance.html )

then convert all that from US$ into Cdn$ keeping in mind that PayPal will add about 2.5% conversion fee to the wholesale conversion you may find on the internet.
