Interesting results showing....on the Canada Post website....

(1) Tracked Packet  has a fuel surcharge added on

(2) Shipping to the USA

shows Tracked Packet International

as well as Tracked Packet USA

(2) Small Packet USA surface not showing..

Goes contrary to the fact that Small Packet USA Surface would be available until February 11

and

Tracked Packet USA would not be available until February

Website does not agree with announcements....

Maybe Canada Post should have introduced Tracked Packet in August 2012

and then remove Small Packet today.....

Do the same as .....Expedited Parcel USA which was adjusted in August a few years back....

Re: Canada Post website, January 14, 2013

Just came back from the local postal outlet.

Did a dummy run on a parcel going to the US  and weighing 0.8 kg

Small Packet Surface US was $12.98

Small Packet Air  US  was $15.56

Expedited - USA was $21.42 ( No Ventureone discount)

--------------------------------------

Small Packet is still available  at the postal outlet

----------------------------------------

On Canada Post's website

Tracked Packet USA  only shows up when one clicks to show the Venturone savings.

Tracked Packet is already available to some business customers,  based on Canada Post information. ... but not to the general public.......  until Februray 11.

-----------------------------------------

(1) Postage increases as of January 14

(2) Small Packet USA available, but with no insurance

(3) No Tracked Packet until February... unless you are a special business customer......

--------------------------------------

Canada Post's website  shows two values for Tracked Packet....

The higher value for Tracked Packet is questionable....  The lower value without  a fuel charge agrees with information already received.....

Cumos,

Good that you spotted Tracked Packet is currently available only to Business customers. CP never made that clear in their announcements and of course, in their usual underhanded fashion, never explicitly stated TP prices would be subject to a fuel surcharge (just the small print in the margin: Canada Post reserves the right to apply a fuel surcharge to all items.

The Find a Rate site is a shambles.

No sign of Small Packet Surface to USA anywhere.

Just for the hell of it, I input a parcel with 20 cm H, 17 cm W & 5 cm H, weighing 1.25 kg, to Arkansas and got a Tracked Packet rate of $64.79, as well as an Expedited Parcel rate of $21.32. The weight limit for TP USA is, of course, 1 kg ...or is it?

I wonder where your postal outlet got a rate of $12.98 for that SP Surface weighing 0.8 kg. The 2013 Venture One price list shows a rate of $12.66 (same as the 2012 rate).

I've got a call in to Dennis Jarvis, Director, International Product Management (Outbound) at CP. He's supposed to call me back. I can't wait to hear what those clowns have to say for themselves.

Another screw-up:

I input a packet with the same dimensions as above but a weight of .300 kg to Arkansas and I got two Tracked Packet rates: $47.97 and $15.98 (which agrees with the announced $15.18 rate + FS).

What a schmozzle...

Re: Canada Post website, January 14, 2013

The 12.98 relative to $12.66 is correct.... $0.32 more...

The two Tracked Packet rates for USA is also correct....

Only the lower  Tracked Packet price is recorded elsewhere.

Tracked Packet is available to online customer  and another group....  I called them "special" business customers...

Not the everyday business people... and that applies to most of us on eBay...  we get it on February 11.

The time schedule for disappearance and appearance of everything is becoming more clear.

The Fuel Surcharge page will be followed closely to see if Tracked Packet has a fuel charge included in the price

Cumos,

I ask again, what have you been smoking?

The rate for a .8 kg Small Packet Surface to USA in the 2013 CP Small Business price list is $12.66.

Rates of  $47.97 and $15.98  for the same Tracked Packet to USA are correct??

It's clear that CP will tack on a fuel surcharge (non-express) to all Tracked Packet base rates (TP rates will never have ethe FS included).

Get serious, Cumos.

P.S. I haven't yet heard back from Jarvis at CP.

I have noticed before the differences. I have a Venture one account  and  checking the local postal outlet. They rarely arrrive at the same price for the parcel when doing a rate check.

Postal outlet scale could be slightly out compared to your weighing.

Taking the parcel to two locations will likly be differant as well

Re: Canada Post website, January 14, 2013

It's not a business price, it's a counter price. See the bottom left of the page.

28grams would have no calibration or weight issue.

Re: Canada Post website, January 14, 2013

Wow

99% of my sales are USA sent Surface Parcel under .250g which is $5.97. Now that is gone and stuck with $7.80 air or the tracked packet @ 16.00

Mind you I was able to send surface at the POST Office counter for $6.12 but this will end in Feb.

9% on 7.80 is a big hit for me. Time to rethink selling? Maybe combine products and sell in sets.

Re: Canada Post website, January 14, 2013

USA Light Packet 100-250g is $5.53 on Paypal when the documentation shows it should only be $5.26. I ship with this for a lot of US items and can't seem to figure out why it is charging more than what is in the printed documentation. I have also tried through Electronic Shipping Tools on Canada Post and it doesn't offer Light Packet at all. Anyone know of any other options or who to contact about this price difference? I know $0.27 isn't much of a difference, but it can add up fast over hundreds of items.

Re: Canada Post website, January 14, 2013

Regarding Light Packet USA, it seems that Canada Post documents are wrong.

When the changes to Canada Post rates were announced in Mid December, there were no Light Packet rates given in the original documents.

Tom (toff3) emailed Canada Post and was given the correct rates that he posted on Dec 18.

Here is his post in the old topic (post 16-17)

http://community.ebay.ca/topic/Seller-Central/Canada-Post-New/3000007667?#msg4000046688

The original document was then updated with the lower Light Packet prices ($2.53) and Tom remarked in a post 86 in the topic below that he was given the wrong information by his contact. Apparently the document was wrong and not the info that Tom received.

http://community.ebay.ca/topic/Seller-Central/Canada-Post-Removing/3000007624?#msg3000049841

So the correct ones are (verified on PayPal and matching Tom's original Information)

Light Packet rates for 2013 to USA and International:

0    - 100 g    $2.65

101 -  250 g  $5.53

251 - 500 g   $8.89

Amazing how many errors Canada Post made in a simple change in prices. Amazing how much confusion they caused to users of Canada Post with the adding and dropping of services and insurance.

So the official post guide here is wrong for Light Packet.

Canada post is not cheap unless shipping to a rural area that save more than fedex or ups.

I am currently using fedex. No issue at all.  by the way , i am using on-line prep of shipment and label and invoice, too.

Re: Canada Post website, January 14, 2013

I was surprised to see that Light Packet USA under 100 g went up from $2.60 to $2.78 yesterday when I printed labels through PayPal.  I had read about the discontinuance of Small Packet Surface and the elimination of insurance, but I didn't see this cost increase.
