Hi, so after looking through forums and internet for the past 3 hours , I have finally decided to ask this question from the community.
I am planning on buying a smartphone for about 200 bucks off of an American seller, now, the phone is used and a brand new one will cost about 400 $ .
My question is this: If i win the item, will the post office/Canadian customs, charge me based on the value of a new phone? Or the used one(the one i payed for)? Also, is there any chance that they might not even notice what's inside the package and just deliver it to my house ?
P.S..
Iam new to eBay and i did try to read alot on the tax payments for international purchases but it all got more and more confusing the more i read 😞

If sent by USPS and customs does check it they will charge you taxes
on whatever province you live in plus a $9.95 handling fee.
If the seller uses Global shipping then you will pay the taxes and the
Global shipping fee when you pay for the phone.
If it is sent by courier then you will pay the taxes and the courier company's
handling charge when it is delivered.
Normally the courier company's handling charge is quite a bit higher than
Canada Customs and Global shipping.
If sent by UPS courier you pay at the door.
If sent by Fedex they generally leave the package
and bill you later.
