I once knew a man with one arm who made his living shovelling driveways and doing snow removal..

Won 7 million bought all the family new vehicles and campers and bought rounds at the bar week after week after week...

HE now has nothing to his name and is back to snow removal ..His wife left him and nobody has bought him any rounds....

It really was very sad but if you win 7 million who can really feel bad for you ...

SOme people cannot fathom that kind of wealth.

They have lived in poverty and when the windfall comes along, they think they can never spend that amount of money in their lifetime.  Unfortunately, quite a number have learned that you can.

I remember years ago, there was a lottery from Ireland that many Canadians bought.  One Canadian man won something like $330,000.  In 6 months it was gone and he had hung himself.

Another guy in Ingersoll here in Ontario won a million or so.  Bought the Ingersoll Inn where he went for his daily ration of beer.  Bought a Lincoln.  Then his friends arrived.  He started "loaning" them money.  Of course, he was the only one who thought of it as a loan.  Eventually, he went broke and died penniless.  I am sure his "friends" enjoyed the money much more than him.

There are lots of other stories.

If I ever win a big jackpot, I will invest it securely and live off the income.

For a number of years I lived across from  a Variety Store. There was a guy in the early 90's that was there all the time buying scratch and win tickets Talking to the staff he would be there for hours some days  He spent most of his paychecks on them

He won one day. Won a Car. The car retailed at $40,000

He did not drive did not have a licence so sold the car to his aunt for $25,000

2 Months later the money was gone  He spent the majority of it on Scratch and Win Tickets

The owner told me he was coming in and some days spending a  $1000 or more

People came in and tried to talk him out of doing it but thats what he wanted to do  He told me after the money was gone he figured he may have won a $1000 for his investment

Mindboggling to me could not imagine taking that amount of money and doing that but he felt he would win big again

Won a $1000.00 one time in the mid 70's with Wintario  Was in a group of 5 People I worked with at a Group home including one of my employers. Bought 1 ticket for myself and one for the group The group won

Wintario used to be televised every Thursday night at 9:00 Showed  the winning numbers from the  least amount to the greatest amount over that 1/2 hour

One Thursday night working I had to rush one of the kids to the Hospital.  She was really ill Just before I left got a phone call from one of my employers yelling we won the $100,000

I was so stressed about this kid  I looked at the time and yelled at my boss "Whats wrong with you its only 15 after 9 we only won a thousand dollars !! Dont be so stupid!!   hung up on her  and left for the hospital

A few hours later after I found out the girl was okay I was sitting in the waiting room waiting for her to be discharged  I replayed the Phone Call with my boss in my mind   and then spent a stressful hour or so wondering if I would have a job when I got back to the Group Home

Not the best of things to do tearing  a strip off ones boss 😛

Called her  and apologized  She said she realized she made a mistake and fully understood my reaction when one of the other staff told her what was happening when she had called me

Now I  spend $3.50 a week and play Loto 649 Loto Ont 49 and Lottario Win the odd  $5.00 or $10.00 prize

Often imagine winning the jackpot Good way to kill a few minutes imaginng what if?

Back when "Who wants to be a millionaire" was on, guy I knew won $2.5 M. he worked three more years to get his pension. He and the GF split within weeks of the win. He has his half and more. She went through hers in a year.

I won a thousand on the Grey Cup Pool in 2003. Took $386 and invested it in an eBay business. My sales have been $220,000. Yeah, darn near a quarter million.

Group of folks who opened a restaurant and slaved seven days a week to make it work. They were all in a group ticket. They won $7M and to a one vowed to keep on working. Place closed a couple weeks later.

My future step-daughter, 26, got a $20,000 insurance settlement. We said, invest in an education. I give the money six months at most.
