I have a product which I have obtained licensing permission from NFL and NHL, I have some prototypes made, but cost is to high in Canada to produce, so I want to find someone off shore to produce it, where do I look for contact info.

I can probably help more you in a couple of weeks. I have just landed a large business contract where I will be liaising with the economic development agencies for all Asian countries addressing their manufacturing capabilities.

I am certain that I will soon develop a long list of preferable manufacturing companies where you can enjoy a reasonable amount of intellectual property protection from copyright and trademaek infringement.

In the meantime, proceed with caution in those markets as there is little protection for your business interests there. You may also want to consider Latin America or East Europe as manufacturing options. Your cost may be slightly higher per unit but it would only be marginally more overall while giving you greater protection and control over the quality of the finished product.

Two other things to consider ahead of time are the volumes you anticipate having shipped and duties levied on your item imported from each different country.

Shipping costs from Asia are very high unless shipped by container quantities onboard ships so the money you may save in manufacturing could be eaten up with shipping costs and import duties.

Do your homework in advance with an open mind to all the extra costs and risks associated (such as prepaying for the manufacturing of your items and then the items not being shipped). You wont qualify for Export Development Insurance as you are not shipping product to Asia so you will have to rely on private insurance to cover your cash advances to the manufacturer.
