Holding out on feedback to retaliate??

I'm more of a buyer than a seller and I notice a few people won't give feedback untill I, the buyer, leave positive feedback. Do sellers do this so they can retaliate on me if I'm not happy with there product/shipping etc?

 

If this is the case why not implement some system where the seller must initiate feedback in order to receive feedback.  May keep people honest.

 

For now If you don't leave me feedback on my instant payment you get no feedback either. Which really leads to no feedback is better than negative feedback, for the scampers.

 

What a flawed system or am I missing something?

Since sellers can not leave negative feedback for a buyer, they really can't retailiate.

Some sellers think that a transaction is not over until the buyer receives the package and indicates that everything is fine.

I leave feedback once I mail out the package but ebay does not require that a seller leave feedback first or that anyone leave feedback at all.

 

Flawed system? For sure it is flawed but not for the reasons that you suggest. 🙂

i tried leaving fb as soon as payment is received,20% didnt leave me fb.then i started holding fb until i know that the package has arrived,still same percentage doesnt leave fb,however i think seller should save fb until notified by buyer that package has arrived,ither through fb or email.

Why? Even if there is a problem with the transaction later on, the seller can't leave negative feedback anyway so waiting to leave it doesn't really benefit the seller. That's the way I see it...I know some see it differently.

What are you talking about?!   It's simple - when I purchase and pay for an item some sellers send FB right away.  I never do until I receive the item.  All sellers who haven't left FB respond to mine immediately.

Thanks for the info... I wasn't aware that a seller could NOT leave negative feedback. Makes me wonder why the option to leave feedback from a sellers perspective exists. Why isn't positive feedback automatically left when the payment is processed? After all isn't that all that the seller cares about, recieving funds?

Sellers decide if and when they want to leave feedback.  Most leave positive feedback soon after payment is received (that is what I do) while others prefer to wait until feedback is received from buyers and a few do not leave feedback at all.

Because eBay does not know when a buyer pays a seller unless PayPal is used as a method of payment.

 

Last time I checked eBay's financial statements, it appeared that about 75% to 80% of all transactions are paid through PayPal.  Although sellers are limited to the methods of payment they can advertise in their listings, reality is that for many (not all) sellers, payments come by methods other than listed.

 

For example, last month, over 55% of my eBay sales were paid by personal cheques or email money transfers from buyers who prefer those methods of payment, whatever their motives.
