How Am I supposed to increase my selling performance when eBay has so many restrictions

High fees, quantity limit in a month (100!!!)... How to become a top seller if eBay has so many restrictions? I sell, I pay high fees and in bonus, I can't sell more than quantity "x" of a popuar item (not a thousand, just 10)! Bravo! Top Logical!

The more I'm trying to start a small business on that site, the more I get disappointed, frustrated and realized that at the end, after all the fees, I almost pay buyers to get my items... The more I'm looking for another alternative to start an e-business...

WAY more interesting to be a buyer than a seller...

There are other sites that offer Free Listing and don't worry too much about the number of items you have up.

On the other hand, in my experience, you will likely spend as much time removing items from those sites that have already sold on eBay.

Still, when listing is free....

For the rest, we old hands really had it easy. Unfortunately, so did a bunch of scammers. Nearly a tsunami of scammers, who would list hundreds of items at unbelievably low prices. Then they took the money and ran.

EBay has done many things to protect those suckers buyers.

• As you have learned, new sellers are restricted in the number of items they can list.

• You are also restricted in the value of the items you can list, but you haven't hit that one yet.

• As you probably learned, Paypal is Holding your customers' payments against your good behaviour for 21 days. (On the slightly brighter side, you can use the Held funds to print shipping labels and you get discounts off PO counter prices of 5% to 18% on some services, so there is that.)

Off the top of my head I can't think of much that will help.

• You are probably using the basic Sell Your Item form. On a dropdown menu under Sell at the top of the page, you will find an Advanced form. This will allow you to sell in US dollars. All the world understands US dollars, and that huge American market to the south understands nothing else.
• Use Free Shipping to Canada. Don't panic. Free Shipping means that you include the cost of domestic shipping in the price of your items. Then you can use Flat Rate shipping for the USA (the huge market) as $0.00 or a reduced rate. This requires some thought and experimentation. It's a learning curve.   YES. Free shipping isn't free. BUT. Buyers prefer it. AND. You pay no fees on shipping anywhere in the world if you offer Free Shipping domestically.
• I suspect you are dropshipping. Don't. Not only are you competing with hundreds of other sellers with the identical items, but if the supplier runs out, you get blamed. If the supplier ships slowly, you get blamed. If the goods* are shoddy, you get blamed. Don't sell anything you don't have in your hands.
• Look for local liquidators, manufacturers, wholesalers, jobbers. Sell what you know, know what you sell. If you are a plumber, ask your parts supplier if he has any end of line items. If you are a hairdresser, ask your Oreal supplier if she has any partial lots of  unopened product.  And by local, I mean look in the paper Yellow Pages. It takes six months from ad contract to printing for that book, and while it is rarely used by consumers nowadays, you will be meeting established businesses. Online the company may have uploaded a very convincing website 20 minutes ago.

The only way is to call customer service. When you will almost reach the limit on your listing page you will see message with different numbers (how much you can list till end of the month) and notice "if you need to increase your selling limit please contact eBay". Just call them and ask to increase limit, say you want to list more. They will go over your performance, you have 100% feedback (everybody likes you), you've been here for a long time (trusted user). Customer service can help you on this, you just need to contact them.

Go to your listings immediately, click on Revise and get rid of all those incredibly ..... incredible .

If you are not selling it in that listing, it MUST NOT APPEAR IN THAT LISTING.!

Now go and fix it. Right now.

And find another supplier. One with better grammar.

The 'brand new' goods are an odd variety.

The photos are not the more usual kitchen table type I associate with new sellers.

And those lists of other items carried plus the hashtags that pierre and I both pointed out are not something an inexperienced seller is likely to come up with.

Looks like she is listing from a catalogue.

As already mentioned, the 'other items' that you have listed that are not being sold in that listing as well as all of the brand names that you are listing at the bottom are against ebay policy.
