To solve your problem, DO NOT use the eBay shipping Calculator (Canada Post).

When listing, select a service for Canada (Canada Post ....) and enter the shipping charge you want from the buyer

Then select shipping to the USA with a service to the USA (Canada Post....) and enter the shipping charge you want from the buyer

Then, if you want to ship worldwide, select the countries you want to ship to, the service (Canada Post....) and enter the shipping charge you want from the buyer.

When establishing the shipping charge you want from the buyer, it is important to consider:

1) your actual out-of-pocket costs (packing and postage).  Some sellers charge a bit more, some sellers charge or bit less or nothing at all.

2) your competitive situation (are your competitors offering free shipping and absorbing the shipping costs in their price

3) your margins of profit to determine if you can afford to absorb the shipping costs (either domestically only, or domestically and USA, or worldwide).

There is no easy answer but keep in mind that about 50% of all transactions completed on eBay were offered by sellers listing "free shipping" (meaning they absorb the shipping costs in their margins).  I do.

Once you are done with one listing, check it carefully before going to the next listing.  Go to eBay.com, find your listing, change your location to USA (pick a valid ZIP), and see what comes out in the "shipping and Payment" tab.

Do the same using an international country you chose to ship to.

Once you are satisfied everything is working as you want, move on to your next listing.  If not, revise your listing, as often as needed, until you get it right.

As Pierre described, you would use flat rate shipping rather than calculated shipping. You won't be able to add a shipping rate to the listing that you have right now because there are bids on it.

,ebay rates to high

I'm puzzled because eBay does not have any rates for shipping. Canada Post has rates and some sellers (as described by other posters) use their own Flat Rates based on their costs.

EBay does encourage sellers to use Free Shipping, but that is a (very successful) advertising ploy. All it means is that the seller includes the cost of shipping in the asking price for the item.

Which is cheapest:

A $5 item with $10 Shipping

A $10 item with $5 Shipping

A $15 item with Free Shipping?

If you decide to use the Free Shipping option, eBay will reward you. Your DSR for Shipping Cost will automatically be 5 Stars and you will not be charged a shipping FVF on any shipping, even Air Mail International at full pop if you use Free Shipping as your first domestic shipping charge.
