I have about 10 "free shipping" items on order in the 5 to 30 dollar range, and they have not arrived to me in Vancouver Canada, after about 2 to 3 months. I would gladly pay a premium shipping fee it one is available but there isn't as far as I can tell. Recently I've wanted to buy more items, and when I ask an Ebay Chinese Seller if they will send it "first class" or "Airmail" for additional cost that I will gladly pay for, they either do not respond, or they say they don't understand what I'm asking.
This problem has only surfaced in the last year or so for me in Canada, and the problem, as far as I can tell, is mostly with the Canadian Postal service. Regardless, I need a secure shipping/tracking method or there is no point in buying more items that I probably will never get.
Are there other Canadians that have solved this problem? Recently I've heard about ePacket in these forums. How can I tell if my package is being sent by ePacket? How can I tell when it arrives if it was sent by ePacket? I cannot recall seeing the words ePacket on a package in the past.

No surprise -- "first class" is a term used for lettermail, "Airmail" does not narrow things down much and won't speed up customs clearance.
Ask if they are willing to offer you the choice of a "tracked" mail service to Canada.
Many won't because they are "drop shipping" from within China rather than doing their own shipping.

If your item has not appeared by the last estimated date that eBay gave you when you paid, open an Item Not Received dispute.
There is a fair chance that you were scammed and nothing has ever been sent. Not that Chinese sellers are less honest than any other, but there are a lot of them and the chances of hitting a bad one are pretty high.
Read the seller's feedback, looking for complaints of slow shipping or non-arrival.
Most Chinese sellers are set up for mass purchases. They just don't (and can't) deal with special demands.
If the seller doesn't offer tracked shipping, the shipping will be slow.
Basically it comes down to you can have it cheap or you can have it fast.
Choose.

Just as an info: my last item I purchased in China arrived ******after 107 days******! The seller and I were in contact, since I was aware of the hilarious Canada Post situation since last year. I did not want to leave a negative FB for the absolutely kind seller. On day 102 I agreed that they refund me. Five days later I have the parcel in my mailbox. So I sent the money again via Paypal. All my items always arrived in the past, but since last year the shipping time is annoyingly and overly long. No matter where it comes from.
Now I stopped buying from China, purchased something from a Canadian company, they ship from Canada. Guess what: I am waiting since May 17 - (now is the 27th of June) for an item in a bubble wrap envelope from QUEBEC / to British Columbia. The seller's answer to my question "I did not receive my item yet" was:
"I am so sorry for the delay, i don't know what happened recently with Canada Post, many shipments to BC, AB, MB are so slow. |
So I wait. But, the problem is - like with other purchases before - I am not able to leave a FB for an honest seller, who is not at fault when Canada Post is messing up and delays the shipments. They depend on positive FB the same way WE, the buyers, do.
