I seldom have any customers wanting to return something however on the odd ocassion, the majority who want to return an item, resort to lying as there is nothing wrong with what I sold them, they just changed their mind.
(We do not have a return policy. We repair or replace manufacturing defects but do not take back merchandise as once it leaves us, it is considered to be 2nd hand and has a depreciated value.)
Latest one in point. Guy buys an acoustic purple violin. 2 weeks afer he gets it, he tells me that he just opened it up and thought it was supposed to be an electric violin.
Here is the parts that set me off: He then infers that he was certain that my original auction listing stated "electric" even though my current lisitngs do not.
Then he has the $%$* to say he would really like to leave me great feedback if we could work something out so that he could get all of his money back immediately.
While being somewhat diplomatic in telling him he was full of $hit about my ever listing this as an electric, he got it with both barrells on the feedback issue. I informed him that was feedback extortion, reportable to eBay and subject to his account being suspended.
I told hom I would give him 65% of what he paid, if it was returned at his expense in the same condition as I sent it out or he could take it to a local music store and they could add pickups and make it an electric.
No reply from him in 2 days.

If he recently bought the item, the auction listing would still be active and you could refer him back to it to confirm the actual description.

Jeff
I did that. That's how I called his bluff. Plus I have been listing the identical product in 3-4 auctions per week, no changes for over a month.
He's just a little cheap SOB that tried to soft talk me with some threats thrown in. So when I call his bluff by accepting a return but discounted to compensate me for expenses and that the instrument is now considered as used he doesnt reply.
Then hitting him with reporting him for feedback extrotion, I guess he just stuck his ugly head back in the sand.
