I need 1 item sent to a DIFFERENT shipping location than my account. I am travelling to the US and need the item for a meeting. How to do?

Hi:

I have informed the seller that I will accept their counter offer on my Best Offer.  Have advised that I will only go through PayPal and pay for the item immediately HOWEVER  I need the item shipped for arrival in November in California.  My eBay and PayPal account (for all my purchases) is in Canada.  BUT I am attending a professional meeting and need the medical headlight for the conference and do not want to go through the paperwork/hassle of bringing medical equipment out of Canada and then returning with it  (I can simply pay the Canada Customs Duty fees to bring in a newly purchased item to Canada).

HOWEVER  do I change the SIHP TO location through eBay and PayPal from Guelph Ontario to a location in California for a specified date of arrival PROPERLY  so that I am following all the rules of eBay and PayPal ???

p.s.  I sent a message to the seller informing him of my interest and willingness to pay immediately and my request to have it shipped in his own state  (seller is in California)  BUT  my other concern is how do I get assurances that they will follow this through ???

Make sure your seller is willing to ship to an address that is not on your PP account before you pay. In fact, this problem should have been discussed before the Offer.

A seller who ships to a non-PP address gives up his Seller Protection.

You cannot add a foreign address to your Canadian PP account.

The simplest thing is to have it shipped to you in Canada, pack it , haul it to California, use it there, repack it and bring it back.

You will not pay customs to bring the item into the USA, since it is personal property. Like your toothbrush or iPhone5. Same when you bring it back into Canada. If it is something esoteric, you should bring your eBay and CBSA paperwork.

I would also suggest that you have the item shipped by UPS EXPRESS. This is quick, reliable, fully tracked and while it seems expensive, it includes the customs brokerage fees that are such a shock when a UPS Standard item arrives on the doorstep.
