I've not received payment for an item purchased from me weeks ago. The buyer has not acknowledged any of my many many messages. Oddly, the buyer has lots of good feedback and continues to purchase from other sellers, and receive pos feedback from them, on purchases made after he/she purchased from me. Very frustrating. And eBay seemingly does more to protect the buyer, not the seller. I filed a complaint through proper channels on eBay so an unpaid item case is open for this transaction. It appears as though I don't even have the OPTION of leaving negative feedback? I don't really wish to do that, but still...can anyone advise me? Thanks!

You're right, you can't leave that buyer a negative. Now no offense, mate, but the only reason this is consuming so much of your time and energy is because you have allowed it to go on. The buyer is not doing this to you, -- you are doing it to yourself. You've seen this link about Unpaid Items:
http://pages.ebay.ca/help/sell/unpaid-items.html
When an item is not paid for promptly, by the end of the third day you send a reminder note. When no response and no payment, at the end of day 4 you open an Unpaid dispute. When still no payment, you close the dispute 4 days after that, get your fees back, relist the item, and get on with it.
An unpaid item is not an affront to you personally. Simply file the claim and get your fees back, -- it's all just business. These kinds of things happen in life, both online and on land. You cannot change the fact that this will occur. The only thing you can control is how you respond to it. I'd suggest moving forward.

The Unpaid Item Strike is a much better warning to other sellers than a negative feedback, which you can't leave anyway.
Members with Strikes are automatically Blocked from bidding by thousands of sellers who have set the block up in their Seller Preferences.
"Enough" blocks and a member can find eBay ending his bidding privileges.
Remember that those of us who sell with Fixed Price or Buy It Now listings, never see the feedback of our buyers until it is too late. Nonetheless, it would be nice to have Strikes and requested Bid Retractions posted on the FB page along with bidders' own Bid Retractions.
The UID also prevents the bidder from leaving you negative (or any) feedback. And more importantly, trashing your Detailed Seller Ratings.
It would be a good idea to set a policy as suggested: reminder on Day Three (or Five or Ten, your choice) with a UID following quickly.
