Item Not as decribed and just tough luck for me???

I ordered 2 leather journals from India.  The listings state that the photos and descriptions are true.  The 2 items cost me $47 US and when they arrived (signature required) they are NOT AT ALL the ones pictured or described in the listing.  These were going to be Christmas presents and they are **bleep**.

The return shipping to India with delivery confirmation would cost me nearly $100 so it looks like I am just ripped off and tough luck for me. 

I am SHOCKED that EBay could basically allow a seller to send a box full of garbage, but proven the box is delivered and the buyer has to pay a TON of return shipping for being SCREWED and ROBBED by the seller?!  I should start selling diamonds for lots of money but actually mailing dried dog poop and get rich on EBay.  WHAT A SCAM!  I thought we had buyer protection. 

Even if I try to do a chargeback on my credit card Paypal will hold the funds and argue for the seller's side to the CC company, according to the PayPal website.  Is it worth my time to bother with a chargeback?

I am so disappointed, I was so excited to give some beautiful leather journals to my sister and brother-in-law for Christmas.  I am out the money (I live on small disability and that was all my money to spend - I splurged to give them a beautiful gift for once.) and now I can't get them something else. 

Is there any solution??

I forgot to add that the seller has 100% positive feedback so I felt confident in them. Also I have sent them a message about the problem and have no reply from them. That was 2 days ago. If they don't respond by tomorrow I will leave negative feedback and open a dispute, even though a dispute won't help as I will be told to pay return shipping which is extremely expensive (nearly triple items cost).

For ''NOT AS DESCRIB'' item, I think the seller have to pay for the return... almost sure !!!

Did you contact the seller ?... Did you open a dispute ?

I have contacted the seller twice now.  I am giving them another day to respond as they have not replied to me yet.  If they don't reply by tomorrow I will open a dispute. 

I also took photos of the items I did receive but my camera is **bleep** so they are not as good as I wish.  I am going to borrow a better camera and take better pictures so I will also enter them into any correspondence or dispute.

I also saved (to a pdf file) the original listings with photos, description, and the statement that the items are true to the photos and description in listing in case the seller changes their listing to deny the original.
