I've got to admire you and Rodney, for sticking your face into the 40+ page thread you started, as it turned out to be quite a hornets nest. Having to repeat yourselves again and again must of been a pain, due to some of the sellers were not reading the whole thread, so they kept asking the same questions. Kudos to both of you for keeping your cool.

Right now, is a stressful time for most of our fellow sellers, and not having the migration tool ready now, is only adding to the stress level.

Luckily for me, I already have some items on .com, and was going to move a few more there, to balance out the free monthly listings we get. I can't imagine someone with hundreds, or thousands of listings to move, as even with the tool, it will take time to do.

Finally, my question, I understand it will convert the selling and shipping price, but if there is a price in the description, will it will have to be manually done?

Tia.

Currently if a seller has flat rate shipping they also have the option of allowing local pickup.

However the local pickup option disappears if the seller uses calculated shipping.

Why is that?

It should be allowed regardless of whether flat rate or calculated is chosen.

I asked this question a few times starting years ago including at least once in the weekly sessions. Nothing ever done about this.

Anything doing with shipping on eBay.ca Canada or PayPal is never changed or fixed it seems for as long as I remember no matter how many times issues are pointed out.

Is local pickup available for eBay.com USA sellers using calculated shipping with USPS? I never see it discussed in the eBay.com USA forums so they do not have the issue???

that's why I've been trying for 5 days to get the rest of my listings corrected, interesting to note, that the email from ebay says

this

Your listings have been removed: Required product identifiers

instead of the duplicate listings, so I guess I would still be able to prove that they removed them for this reason and not duplicates.

Oh, here's something else: the estimated delivery dates for all items purchased last week and one the weekend forgot to take into account two stat holidays over easter. Good Friday and Easter Monday. Canada Post moves the mail on neither of those days. Buyers and Sellers are being shortchanged on their delivery estimates as a result. How is ebay going to protect us from unfair defects as a result of this oversight and error that is not of our doing?

As I stated a few sessions ago, only the national stat holidays are counted. Hence, Good Friday is counted as a holiday but not Easter Monday since that one is optional per province.

With that said, if you have specific examples I can look at to determine whether the EDD coverage was adequate, please send them to me.

I do have specific examples (one was posted in the link later down the page). I have to argue that CPC and Easter Monday is hardly an optional one since it affects ALL postal services across the country not on a per-province basis. Where do you want these examples sent? To you? Or here?

Hi Maureen,

You can send me the examples directly by email.

Thanks!

Pretty quiet around here.  We had seen the kids and grandkids the previous week.

So I had time to answer a few questions on several threads regarding the recently announced change of policy making eBay.ca a single currency site like all other eBay sites.  It kept me busy for several hours each day.

On a personal note, I was and am still amazed at the misinformation out there among Canadian sellers. So many do not understand how sites, currency, store, listings, tax (es) etc... all fit together.

Also surprising is the amount of personal negative feelings expressed against eBay-Canada, its management and staff as if you guys are busy finding ways to ruin their lives and businesses.  Many take this business decision very personally.

So many posters (sellers) miss or refuse to listen to the obvious: the more sales sellers have, the more revenues (and profit) for eBay.  It is to the advantage of eBay to see sellers succeed.

Finally there is a huge credibility gap by so many towards eBay's statement that listing and selling in Canadian dollars will benefit most of them. So many think and really believe they have better results listing/selling in US$. There is no convincing them otherwise.

.... and life does go in.

Hi Pierre,

Thank you very much for the work you've been doing on that thread. It's true there are tons of misconceptions our there but the way I see it, many sellers have a very deep, personal connection with their eBay business. eBay has always been about giving power to anyone so they can run their business and make a living. Whenever we make changes as fundamental as the change we announced last week, for sure we will rub against objection, disbelief and dismissal, even if we know from real data that this will help most sellers, and as you said, even if common sense dictates that we would never do anything that we know would destroy our sellers' businesses.

Item   - Purchased on Sat, March 26th, Estimated delivery date for Canadian buyer - Tuesday, March 29th -  April 11

Standard Shipping was used and it shows the buyer on the listing- 2 - 11 business days. The time given in order details is 0 - 9 business days.

Considering Tuesday is the first day that the post office is open, Tuesday delivery would be impossible even if the buyer was in the same city.

Hi pjcdn,

Thanks for sharing this and the other example. I'm chatting with the shipping team already about Canadian stat holidays, how we can make them better fitted to what Canada Post uses.

Good day.

Busy times, eh? I just want to throw my vote in for a migration tool from .com to .ca. I list on both sites and before the change I'd like to clean up my categories so they are all on one site, in one currency. I get a lot of multiple sales (I sell stamps and my categories are countries) and having a category in two currencies I believe will be inconvenient for customers. Keep up the good work.

Hello Al,

Thanks for the kind words and for sharing your thoughts. We are exploring the possibility to make the migration tool available for this purpose in the future.

can you tell me if we wait until the migration tool if we are going to have to pay for the relists?  the promotions may have dropped by that time.

I can't speak specifically to how long will the current promotions run or what new promotions might show up in the near future, but I can assure you that we will do our best so that sellers who do what we ask and migrate their listings don't end up having to pay extra fees as a result.

also, I had to add selling manager due to the errors on listings that I have to correct, I'm still working on photo issues and now upc/brand/mpn issues and it only gives me that info in selling manager but I've noticed I now don't see the weekly sessions on the left side, and my sold view no longer shows notes from buyers (important since I have gotten emails from paypal without those notes) .  Is there some way of customizing these?  I've tried everything and had to unsubscribe the manager to get to these posts and will have to resubscribe in an hour to continue editing.  Seems like I will have to do this daily

Let me start by saying I think everyone should subscribe to Selling Manager. It's free, it's a fantastic product for any seller and most importantly, your regular My eBay Selling pages don't go away when you subscribe to it. In other words, you don't have to unsubscribe from it in order to reach your old My eBay pages. I'm not sure about customizing SM to show you the specific things you're asking about, but I can assure you that you can always see your regular My eBay Selling pages. Just use the links that appear when you hover your mouse over the Activity tab: Sell takes you to your regular My eBay pages and Selling Manager takes you to... Selling Manager 🙂

Why does Ebay constantly make changes and ignores fixing known errors, bugs, and issues?

Hello dutchman,

We never ignore known bugs or issues. It may happen that due to reasons that have been explained at length on these weekly sessions, we find ourselves unable to fix something or to make different parts of the site work together better, but we never just ignore issues. It might look this way to you, but we don't. What would we gain in doing that?

With that said, just because there are things about the site that we are unable to fix or make better doesn't mean we don't have jobs to do or that we shouldn't continue to make business decisions that will help grow our (your) business.

I would like to know why ebay thinks upc and mpn numbers are so important, most of the stock I sell is crafts from individual designers and there is no upc or mpn.  Ebay has a disclaimer saying buyers search by these metrics.  Sure, the last time I looked up something I did it with a upc number....do it all the time.....NOT!!  Even when I've put in a upc- ebay says it doesn't recognize it so most of my listings are does not apply, so why do they cancel my listings due to missing upc when all I have is does not apply....sure I know it's a computer program doing it but when did anyone ever see a upc number branded onto the back of a belt buckle? yet, I'm flagged for it.

Whenever the item you sell doesn't have a UPC code, you should be able to select "Not applicable" where you would otherwise put in the UPC code.

Hello Raphael,

no, the views are different, selling manager has a drop down with things like mark shipped, add tracking number etc.  The view on sold without selling manager has all that info including the buyer's zip code/postal code etc right on the main page.

this is all I see in selling manager

151247724615 Cross Stitch Crazy UK Magazine #165 July 2012 Tom Daley, Anniversaries, Panda, B

Tracking number: [Add]

however without it I see this
Buyer Postal code: 75252-3100
Tracking number: [Add]
Watch Count: 0

eBay note: The buyer left you a note about this purchase. You can view it on the order details page.

this ebay note does not show up on my sold page in selling manager, a friend of mine says it does on hers, now if someone could
tell me what I have to do to get it to show up that would be fantastic!  Also it's a plus to see the zip/postal so I know if it's Canadian or not
thanks

hi again,

I have been working on that in the improve your listings area where there is a hyperlink to the errors and I'm down from over 1000 to under 100 but it's VERY annoying using this bulk edit, I can't tell you how many times I've had to put in does not apply to variation listings and it then asks for brand/mpn and I put in unbranded, does not apply, then when I submit I get error messages, and it seems to cycle back to the same listings over and over and the same errors.  I guess I'll have to go into all the last ones individually and do it in the actual listings but this is VERY time consuming.  I usually try to list at least 10 new items a day and have only been able to do 10 all week...

Raphael,

Hope all the bruises have healed by now and your recovery has been aided by an infusion of chocolate.

A seller raised an interesting question in a thread earlier this week regarding item location misrepresentation. Quite a few of us Canadian sellers use USPS shipping services and some are looking to move their listings to .com to continue USD listing. In order to utilize calculated USPS shipping we have to adjust the item location so an origin zip can be established. By doing so that changes the item location to the US. I wouldn't think this would constitute item location misrepresentation given the item is being shipped from that location (most sellers will also maintain a return address in the same ZIP), but I thought I'd check for clarity as I'm sure there are others wondering the same.

Thanks!

Hi hlmacdon,

Thanks for asking about the bruis... I mean, what bruises?? 🙂

Item location should always reflect the true location where the item will ship from. Hence, unless a Canadian seller can actually ship from a US address, they shouldn't use calculated shipping when listing items on eBay.com. There is one way to do it: some sellers use services that bring their shipments over the border and inject their shipments directly into the USPS stream, but there are delays that come with that so sellers who do this need to adjust their handling time accordingly (we would consider the item as shipped only once it is in USPS' hands).

I just want a generic answer instead of Ebay denying it and defects being issued.

It has nothing to do with a specific user.

Why do you and Ebay refuse to acknowledge this issue and just feed us a bunch of malarky about it.

Bug / glitch when using sell similar or revising...

Item specific: Country/Region of Manufacture changes to Country//Region of Manufacture

An additional change converts the item specific to Country////Region of Manufacture

The error of adding extra "/" marks seems have started in the last month or so.

Good Friday and Easter Monday are national holidays in 2016

As sellers we have to be careful with provincial holidays... which are specific to a province

Forgive me for butting in but, as much as I understand the USD-loyals are upset, they are running roughshod over the whole discussion  thread and breaking virtually posting rule that the community has: personal insults, foul language, and encouraging others to sell and shop outside ebay. These are flagrant no-nos that are never allowed on a regular thread so why are the folks at headquarters letting people behave so improperly? On any other thread, the moderator would have been called in to stamp it all out. Is there no happy middle ground between being allowed to express one's opinion and violating every board rule?

For my part, I had to cut-off notifications on that thread because the depth of ignorance and widespread nonsensical fearmongering was  raising my blood pressure. I spoke where I could but if I had bulletproof underwear and unlimited time, I would have liked to correct each and every misconception. I do not want, however, to draw any more angry ire in my personal direction. I get a clear sense that other sellers would very much like to see a self-professed CAD-user fail just to prove their USD-rules point.
