I have had a number of unpaid cases, I usually proceed to open a case and when the money is not received I close the case. I would like to know whether the buyer gets penalized with a negative feedback for this. I don't think it's fair nothing happens to them. I have actually checked back to see where their feedback stands and it seems its unfair that they are bidding on all these items and never paying. Hopefully someone can shed some light. thx

Are you saying you close "Unpaid Item Cases", before they run their course?

Hi .. When you close an unpaid case ebay assigns a strike to buyer's account. @ 3/4 from different sellers ebay is likely to take action to restrict buying privileges or suspend.
Most sellers have buying requirements set to block bidders with 2+ strikes and that severely affects non payers.

Unpaid Item Strikes are not recorded on the bidder's feedback page or anywhere public.
But the bidder is prevented from leaving the seller any feedback.
It is a good idea to complete those UIDs, for the benefit of all sellers.
It is also a good idea to Block bidders with UIDs, those who do not have active Paypal accounts, and perhaps bidders from certain countries.
And add those non-payers to your Blocked Bidder List.
