I usually find that my parcels get out of the country with lightning speed, no dilly-dallying, which is at least half the issue when you're dealing with a rural P.O. like mine.
If I get my item to my little P.O. before 2:30 p.m. weekdays, it's on the plane in Halifax by the end of the day, through the Ville St-Laurent sorting station usually the next, and off to "JFK". I've had Light Packet items get delivered to a New York address in 4 business days, California in 6. And Expedited is sometimes even better. You're right, these become "Priority" mail in the US and are handled swiftly, but there's rarely any delay on our side of the line, don't you think?
