I thought about this yesterday when I was looking for Lisa. I was getting impatient wondering if anyone had seen her. I didn't want to post in another thread because it may have been mised, so I had to email her instead. (Which was no problem by the way)

Then I thought...maybe we could have a thread where we could come and ask about someone or just to say something that just doesn't pertain to anything in particular. It's always a bit weird going 'off subject' in someone else's thread.

So, this thread will be for EVERYone and it could be about ANYthing. You don't ever have to use it, but if you need to, great. Doesn't mean you can't make your own thread, it just mimics the ski chalet after a day of skiing. Say what you want - ask what you want - show your pictures - comment on the dot com threads (yuk yuk) A veritable freebie. I hope it will be useful but if it's not - then...$screw you guys - I'm going home! 🙂

Nope ... we do Edmonton in April - this one is in Victoria. Mainly a stamps and postcards show (officially philately & deltiology).

I am some sick of winter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well babes, we didn't get the job. So, we'll be staying put for a while yet. Turns out he was a little over qualified and they didn't feel comfortable putting him in an Indian position, after he has been a Chief for so long. If they would have asked us, we would have set them straight but they didn't.

That's life. Thanks anyway Bill Bubby. Maybe next time!!

Aaaaahhhhhh Jackie - I'm so disappointed for you!

It obviously wasn't his job and the right one, the one that will challenge him better and be more suited to his talents, will come along - probably before long and then you'll both be glad this one didn't pan out. I'm a firm believer that if we don't try too hard to push it, we'll be in the right place at the right time!

Chin up kiddo! Glenda

Just a quick note to bump this up before it falls off the page! I THINK we need a catch-all topic like this one more or less regularly. If not, well ... as Jacki said "then...$screw you guys - I'm going home! :)" 😄

Hi Ann - how nice to see you. It's been so so long since I had a chance to say hello.

Yeah, well that's life. We'll find something better, I'm sure. We're always on the hunt.

Hope all is well with you and that your auctions are kicking butt. Have a great rest of the weekend.

Just popped in to say hello to Malcolm, Bill, Don, Glenda, Deb, Lisa, K, and anyone else I may have forgotten to mention. Hope you're all well. I am so happy to see this winter nearly over and it's looks as tho we'll be spending a bit more time here in QC....unless something very unexpected happens.

Malcolm, my step-son has decided to go into Blues music and he is really loving his guitar. He can't stop saying how happy he is to have it!!

Cheers everyone,

Jackie...

Thanks for the update on your step son and the guitar. Sorry I didnt respond sooner but I just got back from Florida last night (25 hours of driving) and was frightened to see all the emails I had received.

I only had a little over 100 emails and 76 of them were virus attachments so easy to clear.

5 were from one buyer that I had a feeling was going to neg me no matter what I would do for him and he has gone to Square Trade demanding all his money back including shipping etc. I left a lengthy message for SQ and basically said the customer is full of %^&$. I think I have him on feedback extortion as he wanted positive feedback from me before he would give me any although he emailed a very nice email saying he loved the instrument. I checked his recent purchases and he has left only 1 FB for 1 seller out of 8 I checked and it was a negative.

When your step son wants a true blues guitar, email me. I can sell him a resonator acoustic or a nice electric. Its kind of difficult to get the real 'Blues" from a classical guitar.

Nice to hear from you again.
Malcolm

Well surprise surprise.
Tonight I posted my first time on the US PS Board where the discussion was about a PSers first sale into Canada.

There was clearly alot of confusion over Canadian Bank Drafts and PayPal and customs etc. and while some of the experienced US sellers provided some info I thought that I would throw in my hat and offer some good old fashioned Canadian assistance and comradship.

It was nice to see a hearty thank you from one US member for my small contribution followed by a big hello from our favorite Cdn PSer "Jackie"

I am not certain if any of you have been having problems with the Cdn PS board today but several times I can get into it and all that comes up is some java script written in 1999.

I was in St. Petes on the Gulf coast. Perect drive, left Ottawa at 8:30pm Thursday the 11th and arrived at the Florida Welcome centre at 4:55pm Friday the 12th.

Duplicated the great time on the return trip and confident that I can make it to the gulf in 24 hours maximum, should I be able to squeeze out some more time down the road.

I needed another 5-days and was upset about coming back to almost a full week of snow here.

I have an opportunity to be CEO of a company in North Carolina. I tell you when driving thru N. Carolina a couple of times over the last week (to and from Florida) and seeing the green grass and all the apple blossums out in full bloom, it will be a difficult deal to turn down.

I also have a chance to be a CFO of an Ottawa company as well and I yet am still doing well as an independant business consultant, hence one of the reasons I have slowed down my eBay sales for a while.

It also gives me a chance to see if there is any eBay support for a silver power seller who has not had a single response from them on 2 major issues after sending multiple emails.

I dont work for eBay. eBay is a service for one of my businesses and I am afraid I am not very pleased with the level of service that they have been providing me.

Gee, sounds like this old grump needs another week in Florida.

Malcolm, I LOVE St. Petes area. We've often stayed at Madeira Beach and I love going to John's Pass. I only made it to Orlando this trip as I met a friend there and it's not the same at all. Weather was great wasn't it!!

We hit a storm in VA, along I19 between Beckly and Fayettville and that's how I got the flat tire. There was a "fresh" accident and the debri was all over the road. I said to my son "UH OH, I hope we don't get a flat" and guess what? We did!! :o(

I made excellent time as well. Around 21.5 hours on the way down but not so good on the way back due to stupid stuff happening (like the flat tire).

Ya, NC and SC and all that area down there......I'd love to be able to spend my winters down there. Some day, in the near future when my husband retires, and the youngest is finished university.

Sorry about the stuff with Ebay. I agree, they're not really very helpful in a lot of areas. Same with Paypal. :o( GOOD LUCK!!

There arent too many places one can afford in Florida any longer if you are looking for anything near the beach.

2-bedroom condos are around $300,000 and up. There is one last haven that I think I would consider and that is the Fort Walton/Destin area in the Florida Panhandle.

The winters can get a bit cool 45F at night and 60F during the days but the summers , while hot are almost void of severe humidity that you will find in most other Florida areas.

There are still some good deals on properties and businesses there for "early retirement". The same beach condo in this area would be closer to $150,000 however there are some small, older homes that you can pick up with beach front or beach access for under $200,000.

I had been watching the weather in the US during our stay and rather than staying until Saturday, we left Thursday night and missed all the bad weather.

We're actually thinking of buying a place down there for the winters but my husband is more partial to SC (Myrtle) as he goes there every year to golf, but it's not so warm there. I'm more partial to FL.
We had a couple of days of rain but it was fine. I was surprised at how quickly the weather went bad while driving home. I would have though VA would be better weather.

COnvince him to take a trip to the panhanlde. The prices are lower, the seasons are more spring-like for 7 months of the year with 5 months of summer andthere are plenty of golf courses.

Heck even OJ Slash Simpson moved to that area to play golf every day (Panama City). I wouldnt recommend Panama City as it is the main Florida Spring Break City now, pretty wild and too touristy.

The sands are virgin white from the crushed sea shells and the water a true aquamarine blue, very clear and calm.

If you wanted something in a small town off the beach (1-2 miles) but near plent of amenities such as a Wallmart etc, you could probably purchase a modern 3-bedroom home for around $125,000.

What I liked about the area as well is that you are 3 hours drive to Atlanta, about 4 hours to New Orleans, 1- hour to Mobile, Alabama. The one thing that most of the area doesnt have are the crowds (except for Panama City).

Your husband would also only have a 3 hour drive to Myrtle Beach from there.

When I lived in Atlanta, I was invited to see the Masters in Augusta.

Thanks for the info Malcolm. We've actually been to Panama City as my mom used to spend her winters there in Panama City Beach. She used to phone me and say that the kids there were wild and if their parents knew what they were doing, they'd have heart attacks! LOL

Yes, it does seem like a good spot. When there once we drove to Biloxi Missippi for the casinos. It is close to a lot of things and who needs real hot weather. We've been there in March and it was beautiful. I think Nov and Dec it can get cool at night but overall pretty good. Sure is better than what we have here.

Did you go to the Masters? My husband would give anything to go to it. He LOVES golf. (Lives and breathes it!! lol)

I never made it to the Masters.

I owned a large manufacturing company in Atlanta with partners and worked 100 hour weeks. I used to have suppliers invite me to the Masters, Braves, Hawks and Falcons games and other International events as well as dinners and cocktail parties with the likes of Ted Turner or the Governor of Georgia.

I could never carve out the time for more the majority of these invites although I made it to a few Braves games, one Falcons game and a Hawks game over a 3-year period.

Its a real shame. When you have money and power, you get all these free invitations to attend VIP class events and other sorts of neat stuff as well as to dinners in high class restauarnts and parties but you dont have the time to take advantage of 90% of them.

When you dont have that same money and power but you have the time, you dont get the invitations and you have to save up to buy tickets in the family zone or for a monthly outing to MacDonalds.

Go figure it out!

LOL.........yep, life is strange isn't it! I've often heard celebrities talk about how they get all kinds of freebies, and don't have to pay for sooooooooo many things and they are the ones who can most afford to pay. Weird.

How often do you think President George Bush has to pay for a lunch or purchase tickets to see a sporting event?

Does the Queen of England leave 10% or 15% tip after enjoying a nice meal and good service?

It is remarkable, but the middle class drive the economy and pay not only for their own lunches but that of the rich and famous too.
