The Wagoshiq reserve is close to where I live and little to know chances of finding work other then Reserve police or on the band ...

This year a Native Couple from the reserve bought a Lodge Called perry lake lodge now called fox lake lodge .

Great place for contractors and hunters and great food anyways my friend got a job there which I thought was strange as it is about 5 minutes friom the reserve so why not higher off the reserve I thought to myself..

Remember for the next part I am in northern ontario very cheap living with a minimum wage of $10 and change I am not talking Vancouver or anything

So I decided to ask the questions on my mind .. There is 250 people on the reserve many not living in that nice of homes this should be music to there ears .. good job with benenfits a new future for their family ...

WHY DID THEY NOT hire from the reserve ..They tried but out of 250 people only 1 wanted a job so now as my friend put it the owners a very upset by this as they thought it would help them out and the reserve but now employees 1 native and 3 white and 1 chinese from towns near by ...

I hope next time this reserve goes to have a Friendly protest in timmins like they did a few weeks back somebody brings that to light .. They want better but when it's right in front of them they don't want to get up and grab it they just want it to fall on their lap ..

The owners from what I was told are extremely upset with there reserve right now too ...

AAANOTHER STORY ABOUT THE SAME RESERVE

about 4 years ago The water lines in their brand new community centre burst so what would anyone do ... Pay to get it fixed and take care of damages and have things back to normal ...

What they did was open all the doors and turned into a skating rink and now the building that was new and cost tons of cash to build is less then 10 years old and condemned ...

Look the tax dollars at work now ...

This is an isolated example and by no means am I categorizing or stereotyping... Just thought people might like to read these ones because to me no matter what treaties you have people like this deserve nothing more then a condemned building to live in ...

No Prior won't bother with this one .. You can't defend that with treaties or slavery and Prior tend to only comment on what he knows alot about and not knowing anything about that reserve he won't comment.. ..

No history in the world gives anyone the right to be a useless drain on society and I feel the same for everyone who abuses EI and welfare etc I am not being racist just stating some facts ...

If you are part of this world you have to contribute wheter it' to society as a whole or just your family ..

It is the same Reserve my company hired I think it was 2 guys but went through 5 and the 1st guy here was the last guy here and of course it was the old man and all the young bucks were lazy waste of the companies money .. That also lead to them never ever getting a call from the mining company again and these kids were getting paid I think it was $27 an hr and only 1 came for more then one day .. So now that old man who was a CRAZY hard worker will never get a chance to come back here and he was being paid in the mid $30 range and hr ...

If anyone else has these types of stories share them Doesn't have to be about natives on reserves I just wrote that to make a point and to kind of show that Some reserves are the way they are because of their own people...

During the flood fight a couple of years back MIT asked all hospitals, fire rescue, police, factories, anyone with First Responder or First Aid certification to send people to work as Safety Officers. MIT could not churn them out fast enough.

EI & Welfare rolls were drained as anyone considered employable was sent out to make sandbags. Twelve hours shifts round the clock, seven days a week, 16.50 an hour to start, two hundred per shift in my location. Not a bad wage for unskilled labour in Manitoba.

Problem was they were paid on a thursday so you can imagine how many showed up on Friday, usually around ten percent. Many did not like doing the work, boring to them. Many would leave & reapply for the dole but were sent back to us to work.

Ones who worked hard were usually rewarded with a lead hand position with an increase in their wage & a permanent position the next spring.

Ones who didn't work hard were back on welfare getting their five hundred a month.

Bottom line, Some people just don't want to work. Nothing we can do about it.

Ya the man was probably early 50's and I probably couldn't of kept up with him he was crazy hard working...

He won't get called bnack because it's a 2 man job he was cler cutting bush at our tailings dams and we ended up having our General mill forman go out and help him sooooo that would be why they never got called again ..

I mean I think most the world doesn't want to work I know I don't but what I want and what My family needs me to do are 2 different things..To me it is just crazy to see 99% of Town unemployed and not willing to work ..

I mean what waiter or waitress makes $15 an hr plus tips with Benefits .. NONE .. My wife even applied but just too late..

To me bringing light to what some people don't see or realize is good..

Many Southern reserve are not like many northern reserves out of 3 reserves I have been on up north 1 was nice and the people were nice and the housing was alright and the bulding werew not abused...

I feel bad for those who do and deserve but those who don't really burn me

It's part of the plan and it's working. The nation occupies a land. First invaders try to give them trinkets. Then invaders fight.
