eBay is forcing some sellers to agree to pay for return shipping for buyers who are unhappy with their purchase for any reason, no matter what the seller's return policy states, and despite the practice going against the default eBay Buyer Protection policy.
Only a percentage of sellers are impacted, causing some to believe it i...

I have always offered to refund buyers return shipping costs, but eBay will not allow you to refund more than the full purchase price by way of a refund, therefore, you are compelled to refund the buyers return shipping costs by way of an additional money transfer.

Just more nonsense from Ina, who must have been well aware it was a glitch that turned on the managed returns for some number of us sellers. She got that from the us ps board (like most of her stuff) where it was known as an ebay acknowledged glitch

In some cases i can see this happening with disputes about to go through the Resolution Centre Process.
I think a seller who has a significant number of "Item Not As Described " disputes launched against them would eventually have to pay for return shipping costs.
Hopefully this will help Brande & Steve eliminate the counterfeit DVDs that seem to dominate their category.
How eBay will be able collect on the costs of return shipping would be another story. Would the buyer send eBay the return shipping receipt during the resolution process ?

Maybe this is a repeat of the Auctiva "glitch" where all Auctiva users got opted in to the GSP (without any help from eBay).

More than likely ebay would refund the shipping cost back to the buyer that they originally paid, which would be highly unfair to honest buyers. If so, sellers that offered free shipping would have no worries.
That's the only scenario that I could see working, considering how many hundreds a day may start an SNAD claim. There's no way eBay could handle each and every request.

If americans opt in to the managed returns with seller pays, ebay just provides the buyer with a label ready to print and slap on the parcel (the same way AMZN does returns) so there is nothing to refund. Then its just another fee to the seller.
The bootleg dvd sellers tend to have very good feedback . If buyers weren't happy they'd end up booted over the fb and dsrs. The buyers are clearly happy with their cheap dvds, the sellers usually at 100% with good dsrs..

"The buyers are clearly happy with their cheap (bootleg) dvds"

You cannot possibly compare bootleg DVDs to legit ones bought in the stores.
