In My eBay -> Account -> Communication Preferences -> Promotions and Surveys (way at bottom)
there are options to control whether you get communication about promotions from eBay?
If these options are all turned off, would they possibly exclude you from the eBay free promos by invitation?
I ask because I used to receive all the promos until November. I read in an ebay.com forum today that if you have these options turned off, you will not receive the free promos by invitation. I do not think it is true.
I always had these options turned off since I joined eBay because most are annoying.
So I turned them on except for phone communication hoping to get back on the free promos. I figured I have nothing to lose except having to get some eBay spam. I do not believe ti to be a factor at all. But I would like to get the promos back so I will try it.
Now I know the option is about communicating information about promos, not about participating in them. But if a seller does not want to know about the promos, maybe this information will be used by eBay to not send you an invitation to a promo. Having the promo communications turned on may tell eBay that you would like to participate in promos but not will guarantee a promo.
For those of you who receive the promos, how are these preferences setup for you?

I have the box checked off and I receive all the promotions.

I have them checked all except Ebay survery and Phone updates (first and last) and I get ZERO promotion invitations.

I have all options on all the time from Day 1 so I doubt it is true because I don't get free promo on a regular basis like the other sellers (it is for my non store). I no longer can believe what eBay says anymore, they do lie all the time which I learned a hard lesson a few times already. What a pity that eBay choose to do that to treat us.
I am waiting for the other site that will be better than eBay and that is when I would move from eBay to the other site in a heart's beat. Hurry up!

" I no longer can believe what eBay says anymore, they do lie all the time"
????
Where did eBay ever promise you a promotion on any account - with or without a store?
eBay did not.
Invitations to promotions come and go.
It appears that a few are reserved for some (not all) sellers with an eBay store while many are for some sellers (not all) without a store.
Some User IDs received many invitations over the last seven months while others received very few or none (I have only received ONE on this ID). eBay has never made public the criteria they used to select sellers receiving a promotional invitation.
How can they lie when they do not tell you anything?
" would move from eBay to the other site"
What other site?
There is NOTHING available to Canadian sellers with the traffic eBay generates.

What I mean about "lie" is when I called them to talk about something and they told me something only for me to find out later it is not true, it happened too often. For example they told me that my items in inventory will remain for 90 days and today 150 of them disappeared with only 60 days. That is a sample of eBay telling us "lies". Get it?

"they told me that my items in inventory will remain for 90 days and today 150 of them disappeared with only 60 days. That is a sample of eBay telling us "lies"."
If you think eBay "lied", you may want to check the meaning of "lie" in a dictionary.
What you may have been told is that the information on unsold listings in your Selling Manager may remain for up to 90 days.
That information is correct.
If you check your "Unsold" in Selling Manager today, February 1st, you will find unsold listings of December and January. If you check the same information the last day of February, you will see the same items (up to 90 days).
If you had checked yesterday, you would have seen unsold listings fron early November - 90 days!
It is not a question on eBay "lying" to you. It is a question of properly understanding how the system works. And this has nothing to do with those promotional invitations - the subject of this thread.

eBay does keep listings for 90 days.
If you use My eBay to look at old listings, it shows only 60 days of UnSold and Sold.
All other eBay products show 90 days of Sold and UnSold. Why My eBay only shows 60 days is unknown to me.
If you wish to access your UnSold for 90 days, then you need to do one of the following:
1) Subscribe to Selling Manager. There is the free basic Selling Manager which many sellers use. There is also the Pro version called Selling Manager Pro at 15.99 a month subscription. Selling Manager Pro is free with a Premium Level store.
2) Download and Install free eBay Turbo Lister (nly for Windows Computers, not Apple Mac computers). With Turbo Lister, you can also save your listings for as long as you want into Inventory.
3) Subscribe to the eBay Blackthorne products (basic 9.99, Pro 24.99).
4) Use a third party product such as Auctiva or InkFrog.
Selling Manager basic is the easiest choice of the above and can be added easily. However, it becomes part of My eBay and the two systems with duplicate Active, Sold and UnSold listings can be confusing for the first weeks that you use the system.
I also have Turbo Lister installed to store old listings in case I should ever come across a product that I listed years ago. I backup listings to Turbo Lister on a regular basis (1-2-3 times a week).
The three work well for me. But it takes a bit of time and experience to use My eBay, Selling Manager and Turbo Lister together to get the most out of the overlapping systems. Each has their own advantages.

As for eBay support telling you lies, I would say that the support did not properly explain to you that My eBay only has 60 days of visibility. For the most part, eBay support is poorly trained and have little experience with their own system. So the answers you get from them can be a mix of truths, misunderstandings and even lies all poorly explained. Since the support is often based out side North America (the Philippines for one site), the English is poor and communication can be difficult leading to more confusion.

collectors, since you have over 1300 listings, then you most likely have an eBay store so you can get Selling Manager Pro free. The Pro version has a few more features over the Basic version. The biggest feature is the ability to save listings to Inventory. Using SM Pro Inventory can be challenging to understand and use properly.

Significant correction above, LOL.
