eBay Template Design & Logo Design ... Ideas ...

Hi,

I am looking to getting a logo designed and a professionaly designed template for all my eBay auctions.

Does anyone have suggestions as to what to do to go about doing this?

Any references?

Is it a good idea? Not worth it?

Yes it all of that is a good idea. We do everthing in house and for most of the listings, we keep them pretty simple and uncluttered as our goal is for the buyers to concentrate on what we are selling.

However for Christmas as an example, we will run some festive banners. What really helped us in our Christmas sales is that we started our Christmas banners in October, long before we saw anyone else doing it and we started getting Christmas orders in right away and had 3 great months that moved us up from bronze to silver and almost up to gold because of our monthly sales volume.

I think the important thing to remember for your templates is to make certain that they dont distract attention from what you are selling. I have seen many sellers with lavish templates, their TOS plastered all over, pop ups, flash etc and you spend 10 minutes trying to find the details on what you are interested in purchasing from them.

You are not selling your template so keep it simple and as a background to organize what you are trying to tell people.

I will let other PSers direct you to how you can get a commercially prepared template.

I would sugest that you work on the design of your logo yourself. Someone else can help finish it and fine tune it but it should have meaning for you first. It wont increase your sales but it will provide consistency and familiarity in your listings and your correspondence etc.

I defintely agree with you. The customers love when a professional job has been done and makes them a lot more comfortable with you, as a seller, and inspires repeat purchases.

Im 24, live in Alberta (GO FLAMES GO) and have been a powerseller only for a few weeks. I have been on Ebay forever (since 99) and Until february it was just a hobby. I then got into selling custom italian charms and I noticed that with hard work (and no life) I could really make a living on ebay! Not saying that you have to have no life to sell on Ebay, it just helps ME personally get LOTS of work done! LOL

Anyways, Im loving it and In loving the other powersellers and their useful tips n tricks! Life is good on Ebay.

Malcolm, that's not unlike Edmonton and Calgary. Their rivalry is pretty intense too! And yes, that covers much more than just sports.

I'm not a hockey fan, except very mildly at this time of year, but John is a Montreal fan from way back in the days of Foster Hewitt on the radio when all they could get was the Toronto games out here and he wanted to hear the Montreal games. He's always hated Foster Hewitt because of that! I guess it's a male thing! 😉

A good logo design has specific perameters.

It should be simple and reproducable in black & White.

It should still be legible if shrunk down to 1/4 in. in size.

It should be photocopyable (black & white - no greys)

It shouldn't be too trendy so that it stands the test of time.

It would be best to get a graphic design book from the library for the complete checklist.

My own logo for Systemagic is an "S" stylized to look like the Yin/Yang symbol.

Since I had my listing templates redone, My sales from my ebay store have skyrocketed.

Labels, when you have a template like that, do you create your auction offline and then upload the entire template like a pic? If so, what would happen if your hosting company went down for a day? I have been wanting to know how how sellers make thier auctions look like that.

I paid a web designer to do mine. The way to get around keyword spamming is to host each link to the store item (left menu bar) as a .gif and not text. This way the menu can't be picked up in a search.

all of the graphics are hosted on my server (inkfrog.com) and They have never gone down in over 3 years.

When I change the product I just search through the html and change the hosting link for the picture and then change the text. I then just paste it into the html area for a new auction
