pending payment

As a new seller you will be subject to the PayPal 21 day hold on payments from your buyers. If this is the case, you are still required to ship the item within 7 days of the payment notification. Payment will be released at the end of the 21 day hold if there are no disputes opened against you. This page explains about the hold.

pending payment

There are two kinds of 'pending' .

For new sellers there is the Paypal 21 Day hold. The customer has paid and his payment has cleared. However, PP is holding it against your good performance. Ship now.

The other is an "e-cheque" which means the payment came from your customer's bank account and has to clear two banking systems (Canada and USA) before going into your PP account.

To make it trickier- your customer could pay with an e-cheque which is held by the banking system for upwards of 10 days, then be held by PP for another 21.

Sigh.

The easy way to decide if you can ship- and remember your customer thinks he has paid- is to try to print the shipping label through Paypal.

If you can, do it. PP may be holding the money against your performance, but otherwise all is well.

If you can't, contact your buyer and explain about e-cheques, and assure him that the parcel is packaged and ready to go as soon as the PP shipping label is available.
