shipping calculator

I used calculated shipping last night for a new listing for shipping in Canada but I tried to revise a listing this morning and add it and it won't work and I messed it up so bad that I had to end my listing. It wouldn't let me use grams, just whole kg and most of my packages are way under a kilo not mention the high postage for that weight!  Is the calculator on the blink again?  Its the only way I can get somewhat accurate shipping without phoning and asking for a fvf refund when the shipping is overcharged because ebay makes it so easy for a buyer to pay immediately.  I have to manually adjust the shipping for my items to give a combined rate.

Re: shipping calculator

It is really important for your first couple of listings using calculated shipping that you go slowly and look carefully at each detail you are adding.

There is a drop down menu for calculated shipping weight...the very last option in the drop down menu is custom weight.

" Is the calculator on the blink again?"

More often than not, the problem is when a seller attempts to enter measurements or weight that do not fit the service selected.

How light is the item?  Would lettermail qualify (NOT available through eBay's parcel calculator)?

Re: shipping calculator

Thanks Pierre but only the first 2 items can be put in a stay flat package, then they have to go as a parcel but for this item it has to go as a parcel. I have to keep up with the buyers and get their invoices done before they pay and most of them never wait even though I ask that they do in the description. I decided to try calculated shipping and it overcharges so I just ask that it deduct $1 and it comes out about right  The first one I tried worked great but today, it just wouldn't show me a gram box to fill in, just a kg box and it wouldn't take decimals.

Re: shipping calculator

I will look again at the drop down but honestly, the whole thing was different than the other one I listed.

Re: shipping calculator

nonstopchatter  Thanks so much  I was able to find the drop down and got it listed but it wouldn't let me add my discount rules.  It had the 'create rules' which I already have and did them 3 or 4 times to reset them but still no access to them.  Gosh I wish that this shipping fvf thing would go away! Or at least I wish Ebay would take away that 'pay now' button  No one waits for the adjusted invoice because the items 'appear' to be on one invoice and I guess they just expect me to refund the extra shipping that they pay.  Maybe if enough sellers keep phoning for a refund of their fees, they will do something about it. Thanks again!

Here is a comment about my experiences with Ebays Shipping calculations.   *(YT^%%$$---S.   As a buyer when I see an  S&H that seems way out of whack I ask the seller if the high charge is an Ebay calculation.  Most times the seller says it must be, because the actual S&H is such and such.  Some other sellers tell me the calculation is not theirs to change.  Rubbish.

Re: shipping calculator

You bet! The shipping can be changed up until the item(s) are paid for, after that it has to be refunded through paypal and ebay doesn't refund the seller the fees without the seller jumping through hoops so some sellers just won't  Always wait for the seller to adjust the invoice before paying but more important, always check the description and shipping info before buying.  For some items the shipping must be manually adjusted.  If a seller says they can't change it then they are inexperienced or lying.
