wasn't postage supposed to go up today, not yesterday?

My mom did me a favour and took three letter-sized items to the post office yesterday because they were international and I wanted to catch the last day of the old rate.  She didn't notice but they charged her $2.50, not $1.85.  Wasn't that a day early?

"Letter-sized items", eh? Please don't tell me you were sending goods overseas as lettermail.  You were? I am shocked, shocked,  I tell you.

You should have paid $6.51 for each as a Light Packet.

Poor old Canada Post....trying desperately to eke out a living....what's the world coming to??
