Sellers are not required to let you know the item was shipped. On ebay.com, if a seller uses Paypal shipping labels, Paypal automatically emails the buyer that a shipping label has been purchased but I'm not sure if this is the same on ebay.ca when Canada Post is used.
It is too soon to be concerned about your item being shipped. If it hasn't arrived 3 weeks from date of purchase, notify the seller. If the item still hasn't arrived in about a week after that, you can start the item not recieved dispute. You have up to 45 days to file it so keep an eye on the calander.

If seller marked item as shipped, you can see it at your personal ebay page, next to the item yellow color envelope, instead of gray

If you are concerned after 10 days send the seller a Message asking for the date of shipping, the service used and the Delivery Confirmation number.
Don't worry if the seller doesn't have a Delivery Confirmation number, the service is very expensive.
If the seller is in China, and the delivery takes more than 30 days, start an Item Not Delivered claim and do NOT close it until you have either your refund or your item. Do NOT allow the seller to send a 'replacement". He won't.
