HELP: "You can't request a total for items where eBay manages all or part of the shipping." ?

Hello, seller here trying to help out a fellow seller I'm trying to buy from.

I'm trying to purchase these items from them and the "Request total" option is not avalible due to, "You can't request a total for items where eBay manages all or part of the shipping." I did some quick googling, is it becasue they have "require immediate payment" option on some of the listings?

The seller is unsure on how to deal with this and so am I. Not willing to pay full and wait for a shipping differance refund. I would make a new listing with all these items and delete the old ones my self. What is the best option here?

Thank you for your time and help, much appreciated.

Immeidate payment is the likely culprit I would guess.

If there is good faith between the two of you, he can put them all together in an exclusive listing for the entire lot with the correct shipping amount and have immediate payment on it.  You know the shipping, they get paid right away.  I do this a fair amount, and list what is in the lot so the buyer is protected.

He will need to end the items in the lot, or jack up the price to a silly level and end them after you buy.   BIt of work for the seller, but in his shoes I am happy to do it to sell that many in one shot and only have to pack 1 shipment.

Your seller is using the strangely-named “eBay International Shipping” service to forward your purchases rather than shipping them directly to you. That’s the “eBay managed” aspect of the shipping process.

One of the several quirks of the program is that combined shipping is not currently possible due to limitations in the customs process. That’s apparently being worked on right now, but that doesn’t help you or your seller.

My suggestion is that you request a cancellation for these sales and have the seller re-list all these items as a single lot for you to purchase.  The listing should include accurate information on the box’s dimensions and weight so that you get properly charged on eBay’s portion of the shipping amount.

Or better yet, see if the seller can set up the listing to ship your purchases directly to you by mail if they’re comfortable with that and it can be done with little muss or fuss.

Good luck to both of you. 😬🤞

As others mentioned (and yourself in post) doing a special combined listing would be best.

The only thing I wanted to add, although I don't know from experience with eBay International Shipping but I do know was the case with eBay's Global Shipping, that although the seller could not change/adjust the shipping amount with Global Shipping, if items were combined from same seller there was an adjustment from eBay to combine them in checkout. It was never as low as just one of the item's shipping amount but was considerably less than if they were all added to together (as is showing in your example). I think you can Go to Checkout without actually paying/confirming and it would show you there. Again I'm not positive if it is the same as Global Shipping was, which did work that way but it is possible.

Good luck.

@marnotom!  and @msau4301 have provided your answer. The only way for the seller to combine these is to create a custom listing that contains ALL the items you want.

The inability to combine is a problem because eBay International Service is still a work in progress. That said because a lot of US Sellers are paranoid and won't ship directly it's the only way at this time to buy multiple items when the seller uses EIS (eBay International Shipping).

You need to try to get the seller to go along and set up a custom listing for you. Some will be happy to do this, others will think you are just another one of these foreign scammers from the cesspool of thieves know as Canada.🙄

It looks like you live fairly close to the border. Could you have it sent to a package place on the USA side and go across and pick it up?

Otherwise, a single listing would be the way to go imo.
