I ordered new pants, I got used Calvin Klein Jeans.  Not black new trouser.  Seller said Global shipping is responsible and said to open a claim.  What Do I do?  How do I go about this.  This is not my mistake and I want what I paid for.  The seller chose This type of shipping.  I will never buy from someone with Global shipping again.  Too expensive and now the wrong package!

Click on "Customer Support" at top right of this page and start at the "Resolution Centre" to make a claim.

Thank-you, I have opened a claim.  Others using Global Shipping should be aware that this can happen and it does affect your business and reputation.  Sellers have to chance if it is worth the risk.

Sellers who ship directly to their buyers have been known to make the occasional slip up and ship the wrong item to their buyer.

This isn't a problem exclusive to the Global Shipping Program.

I don't quite follow what you are saying.

Are you saying that sellers may ship the wrong item? Is it true that GSP may also mix up the items and send the wrong one?

This is very concerning.

Next you are going to tell me that companies even send the wrong items and the post office delivers to the wrong address.

This idea that people make mistakes once in a while? That's down right scary 🙂

Re: Seller said Global responsible for sending wrong item. What do I do? She said open a case.

First, insurance protects the sender, not the buyer. If an insurance claim is placed by the sender, he gets the payment. He may then use it to refund the buyer. This can take months. Seriously, months.

If your seller shipped using the Global Shipping Program, once the item was safely delivered to GSP/PitneyBowes in Kentucky, his entire responsibilty ends.

If you were trying to get the seller to refund you, you were knocking at the wrong door.

Should this happen again, yes notify the seller about the problem, but he will not and should not take any action.

Then, you file an Item Not As Described dispute with eBay/Paypal.

Your payment will be refunded promptly by PitneyBowes, and you throw away the broken item (PB does not usually require the return of the unsatisfactory item).

That being said, go to the credit card you use with your Paypal account. Call the 1-800 customer service number and ask about a chargeback. Have dates, transaction numbers and payment amounts handy for the clerk to process your refund.

Re: Seller said Global responsible for sending wrong item. What do I do? She said open a case.

To make the switch the GPS workers would have to have a pair of used jeans in the correct size handy.

Seems unlikely.

I have a vision of a line worker stripping off his jeans right there on the floor and putting on your pants.

More reasonable to think that the seller made the mistake.

However.

As suggested, start the Not As Described dispute and get your money back. These GSP claims don't include a demand for the item to be returned usually, so just donate the unwanted jeans to a thrift store.

Re: Seller said Global responsible for sending wrong item. What do I do? She said open a case.

Pitney Bowes isn't an "eBay creation" (its traditional business of metered postage goes back a long time) and the Global Shipping Program isn't attached to all US eBay listings, although it may look like that sometimes depending on your search results.

By the way, some of the Amazon listings I've seen suggest to me that Amazon folds the equivalent of  import charges into the selling price of items from US sellers.

Re: Seller said Global responsible for sending wrong item. What do I do? She said open a case.

Hi I bought a watch from the US, and the item is to be delivered to Malaysia.

On the auction page, the cost of shipping is $16.57, import charges $30.81, for  a total of $47.38 to ship the item from US to Malaysia.

However when I checked my card, Pitney&Bowes charged me $47.38 x 3 = $142.14, plus 3 transaction fees. This isn't right, why did P&B charge me thrice for the same thing? Basically P&B stole $94.76 from me. This is preposterous!

Please assist me on what should I do to get my $94.76 back. That is A LOT of money!

Send a personal message to ebay employee bennett4612 and ask him to look into this one. This does appear to be a major glitch in the system.

Re: Seller said Global responsible for sending wrong item. What do I do? She said open a case.

What a mess! Your statement shows that you were charged $245 twice but then they gave you a credit for $245. You were charged $47.38 six times and then credited 3 times so as you said, they have overcharged you by almost $95.

I would do as Af suggested and contact Bennett with the information. Click on the following link to go to Bennet's profile and on the right side of the page click on send this user a private message.

Can someone please explain why we are now required to pay Import Duty on antiques purchased through Ebay?

Re: Seller said Global responsible for sending wrong item. What do I do? She said open a case.

You probably are not.

Have a seat this is complicated.

If your (USonly) seller has been signed up for the Global Tracking Program, his responsibility for your purchase ends when it is recieved in Kentucky by Pitney Bowes who run the GTS.

When you made the purchase you saw and agreed to pay 'import fees' , which are NOT exactly duty, but may included duty, sales tax and a service fee to PB/GTS.

You paid those fees with your purchase price and shipping fee. Then the seller shipped to Kentucky/GTS/PB.

And now PB takes over.

They all too often open your seller's carefully packed item and confirm it is dutiable (which can mean a lot of things). Then they repack it (often badly) and add it to a truckload of other purchases that are all imported under one cargo manifest to Canada.

Your duty-free item is part of a truckload of stuff.

This is important too-- you are not the importer. The seller is not the exporter. Pitney Bowes is the importer and pays appropriate duty and taxes to Canadian governments.

This is exactly what The Bay or WalMart does. A cargo of mixed goods are all on one manifest and imported together.

Canada Border Services Agency doesn't open every box. CBSA accepts that PB is not lying on the manifest.

Once across the border PB subcontracts actual shipping within Canada to other companies who bring it to your doorstep.

The reason you see 'import fees' is because PB did this. The fee may include duty. It will include sales tax, which varies from 5% to 15% depending on province, and it will include a service fee of $5 or so.

PB does not break down how much they, as importers, allow for each of these.

But remember PB did pay those duties to the Canadian goverment. Whether they should have or not.

The only ways out of this are:

Don't buy anything that is advertised as being sold through the GSP

Customs services and international tracking provided

Watch for this and do not buy

Contact the seller and ask if the item could be shipped by USPS First Class International which carries up to 4 lbs and is Delivery Confirmed to Canada (The seller may not know about the DC).

If the seller has agreed, Don't pay until he re-invoices you, probably directly from Paypal. Don't worry, this is 'eBay legal'. When he marks the item Paid, eBay gets its fees.

More generally, CBSA and Canada Post have tended to ignore shipments valued under $20 and not charge the applicable duty, tax and service fee.  Couriers like UPS and Pitney Bowes can't legally do this.

If you want the duty-free import limit to be raised from the current $20 ,write (on paper):

The Right Honourable Stephen Harper

Office of the Prime Minister

House of Commons

Can ebay make a setting to exclude all USA sellers that are part of the global shipping services when searching for items?

They could but they certainly won't.

Search in list view and skip all items with the words 'Customs services and international tracking provided.'

Will ebay do away with this stupid scam money grab anytime soon for Canadians?

Your making it very difficult for me to spend my money as I refuse to buy anything from a seller that is part of the  GPS.

How much revenue has ebay lost from Canadian buyers due to this?

Why does everyone dislike it? If you agree to pay the shipping why do you care how it gets to you? Really confused as to why people hate it so much.
