eBay adding quantity to already sold items.

I just had a listing with multiple variations and different quantities add +1 to the items that were already sold and had a quantity of 0.

I know it was sold cause I checked my sold items and there it was in there.

Someone ended up buying one of the said items, and I had to cancel it. How did the previously sold items get their quantities changed when I haven't edited it in months? I had to take down the entire listing until I can verify that I have all the correct quantities for each item now.

Anybody else have this issue?

In my experience thishas been happening since 1998, and eBay has been unable to correct whatever the problem is.

It is absolutely annoying. Having to cancel orders because of eBay screwing up. I get dinged for ebay's garbage. I just had to cancel another order on another product with multiple variations because someone ordered something I sold back in June.

Re: eBay adding quantity to already sold items.

This has been going on for decades.

The only method I have found to combat double listing  and relisting of Sold items  is to occasionally put all my listings in alphabetical order and scroll through them looking for items that show up twice, side by side, and items I am fairly sure have been sold.

Those then go on my Unsold List , with a Note explaining why, until I can confirm that they are in fact in stock.

You have to keep an eye on both picture and title, since it is possible that you relisted by accident with the same pictures but a different title. This doesn't happen very often,  I think I've done it twice in the past 10 years, with an average of 1000 listings up at any given time.

@dougieboygames

I've pretty much given up trying to figure out why something like this happens and/or gets reported from time to time by others. Just know that it does because its happened to me on occasion.

Wondering if with eBay's automatic monthly "relists" eBay is applying Sell Similar? Unable to positively confirm but when I've tested in the past, using Relist "appears" to correctly transfer current quantities. I know many sellers don't like to be bombarded or for that matter keep their listing email history but monthly automagic relists "should" still come with an email. Then sellers would have a history of the actual listings being renewed.
