eBay app being discontinued?

Just spoke to an eBay rep (as my app stopped working), and they said that the app is being discontinued effectively immediately.

What the hell?!?

Perhaps the rep misunderstood your question, or you misunderstood the rep's response.

The percentage of eBay's sales taking place using the eBay app has been increasing fairly steadily, and it is unlikely that eBay would jeopardize that by suddenly discontinuing the eBay app without providing something else to replace it.

Which version of the app are you using, and on which operating system? Older versions of the app may no longer work, and some older devices with older operating systems may not support the latest version of the app. For best results, make sure you have the latest version of the app for your particular OS.

If you have an older device that no longer supports the latest eBay app, you may still be able to reach eBay using a browser or a third party app.

Hi @jiggly_pig - just want to clarify:

There are no plans to discontinue the app. 

With that said - we do regularly phase out support for certain app versions as well as Operating Systems and devices. The next round of that is happening next week and will impact any Apple device that doesn't have iOS 11 or newer.

Thanks for the reply - it appeared to be a 24 hour glitch.  I was just confused as the rep I spoke to initially said the app was being phased out immediately.  It was confusing to say the least.

I had been updated to the most recent version.  Not sure what happened, but all good now.
