Payouts Issue OVER 3 YEARS OLD! NO SOLUTION

I am in desperate need of help. eBay has been holding on to about $550 USD of mine for over 3 years. I have spent over 100 hours on the phone with eBay Support. I have been given tons of different excuses but for every excuse I have been given an equal amount of solutions which have not solved the issue. Basically the last six eBay Support interactions have gone the same way which is they do not understand why it isn't working and say they will get back to me... And they never do. Start process over again. I am not kidding about the 100 hours. 

 

When Payments first went into affect for Canadian Accounts I had issues as many people did. My account is very old and apparently this is what caused the problems. Nobody at eBay International Support understands the complexities of the situation and just goes through their basic playbook. Everyone I speak to in North America commits to solving the issue then ghosts me when they can't. 

 

Does anyone have a contact I can use? I'm literally at the point of just going to small claims court which would also require a larger investment of my time.

Just adding that I have done everything asked including opening new bank accounts at different banks. The banks aren't even getting the deposits attempted. The initial account I was linking is also linked to a a different eBay account so I know it's not the issue.

hours on the phone, were you dealing with a Payments Specialist or were you always dealing with “ground level” customer service representatives?

Is your account on eBay USA or eBay Canada?

 

If it is on eBay USA (which it might be if the account is fairly old), the payments will probably not go through to a Canadian bank, even if it is a US dollar one. I'm not sure what the solution would be to that. Maybe a Wise business account would work? Dunno.

 

If it is a Canadian bank, an account with any of the major providers should be fine. The subsidiaries that do not have physical branches may not work. Not sure about credit unions.

The phone reps have a terrible reputation for getting you off the phone as soon as possible even if that means giving you the advice you want to hear instead of the advice you need to have.

Yes, many times with Payments Specialists. Multiple times with Managers in that Dept. Basically everybody starts from step 1 (upload bank statements and ID) which when the bank payments don't go through it prompts that I add that information (I have counted that I have done this three dozen times).  When the bank account fails they say they will get back to me and when they can't figure it out they just ghost me.

Because the account is like 28 years old only eBay.com existed back then. 

 

My bank account is fine because as I mentioned I have a newer eBay account (20 years old) that is linked to it and Payments work without issue. 

 

Yes, I am currently trying to use a RBC high interest USD account. Linked to another eBay account no issues. I have used a RBC savings, RBC checking, BMO checking, BMO savings, BMO USD account while trying to get this resolved. The banks say that deposits aren't even attempted (they don't get it from eBay payment processing company). Both banks say that all those accounts would accept deposits in USD and CAD, and would take payments to a savings account even if eBay wants to send it to a checking for example. 

 

Because my account wouldnt accept when Payments went into affect they had to mess with my settings and address. I suspect that whatever they did to make it work is what is stopping the processing company to release the money to my bank.

Yeah, if I can get someone with proper training and some perseverance I hope I can get this fixed.

 

My spouse says I should just hand it off for legal to deal with. As in that situation the entire file and all service notes and even recorded calls would become discoverable and would prove how outrageous their handling of the situation has been. I just want to cash out and be done with it.

I don't know of anyone who has been able to link a Canadian bank to an eBay USA account over the past year or two. It's possible people were able to when managed payments were initially rolled out, I don't know.  I don't think any reps are going to be able to help you link the accounts because I don't think they can anymore. There were some people on these boards who I believe were able to eventually get eBay to cut them a cheque to close out the account. That may be your best option to ask for.

Can you change your bank to either a US one (like RBC Bank a division of some sort with the Royal Bank)  or to a Canadian bank account - whether in US or Canadian dollars?

The problem with these suggestions is that as a non-resident Canadian you may not be able to get a US bank to accept you as a customer.

RBCBank and TDNorth were amenable over a decade ago, today??

I have told them for years to cut me a check, send PayPal, give me a eBay gift card. One Rep told me they were going to and then came back to say a Supervisor up the line cancelled it. ...but wasn't able to offer insight in how to fix it for me.

 

All the bank accounts I have used are able to take US deposits no problem. As I mentioned I literally have one of these bank accounts linked to another very old eBay account.  The craziest thing is I received the penny deposit and withdrawal last month for the first time... But then the whole "Payments are on hold" banner of death popped up asking me to reupload my id and bank information for the 50th time. 

 

I have been an eBay customer since the beginning. It's so disheartening to be treated like this. They literally couldn't care less. The comment on this thread by the eBay employee is what I have experienced the whole time. If we just let Customer Support deal with every customer why do the boards exist? I hope I have shown that I have dealt with Support for three years (he can easily confirm this) which is more than generous.
