Absolutely appaled - treatment by ebay customer service

Gonna try and keep this as short as possible - had to make a new ebay account just to make this post, for reasons that will become clear.

So I moved to Canada last year, and post xmas decided I had a few things I wanted to sell, and logged in to my old UK account (which ive been a member since 2012, 100% positive feedback on 300+ sales) on ebay.ca, changed all my details, address, phone number etc, and listed an item, on auction.

I didn't check the account until I got an email saying the item had sold, at which point I tried to log in, and was greeted with an incorrect password message (thought it was odd as it was saved on my browser). I had to contact customer service to have it reset which wasn't a problem, and was sorted out. The next day I tried to log in again just for the address for my item ship, but was given the error message *we ran into a problem, please try again later*. and thus it begins...

this error message has been blocking my entry to my account for 10 days now, every time I want t try and resolve the issue, i have to go through ebay chat, reset my password twice, all the other troubleshooting steps, clear cookies etc. (eevry single time i have to contact them, sometimes 4+ times a day) be given a phone number and OTP to call, and i'm normally on hold for over an hour, and one time I heard the phone be picked up, and then hung up on me immediately, after waiting for 90 minutes. (i had a callback setup through the chat once, but even when i request it, none of the other 15+ representatives I've spoken to will acknowledge that it's an option they can do.I finally spoke to a specialist on Friday who told me there was no reason access to my account was being blocked, and he will escalate the issue, and I should have access within 72 hours. (all this time the buyer of the item has been messaging me, which i can see in my emails and I'm unable to respond to.

Yesterday I kind of reached the end of my tether, I was told through chat that callbacks are not an option and it will be 3+ hours waiting on hold to speak to somebody. I had 4 different chat representatives close the chat on me when I refused to reset my password again, as it's a waste of time, and my account will  still blocked off, the only way a solution could be reached is if I could speak physically on the phone to a specialist. I refuse to be on hold to wait to speak to somebody as If i hear another second of the ebay hold music, I think i will actually go insane.

So I cancelled the transaction through my paypal account (I realise I could have shipped the item with the address through this, but eBay are holding my funds as it's technically classed as a new account in CA, and I have literally zero trust in eBay that it will be simple to get the money once the item is received), and I feel like I'm not going to be using ebay anymore, due to the treatment I've received. This is unacceptable on ebay's part, the pandemic is no excuse as they've had 11 months now to readjust supply/demand for customer service, and it's not like the corporation themselves are struggling financially throughout the pandemic (it's probably the inverse). I don't even know why I'm writing this here, I doubt it would lead to any possible resolution, but I figure it's worth pointing out to any buyers/sellers that if you absolutely need to contact ebay customer service about anything currently, it appears to me that you're kind of screwed.

The only resolution I'd really like from this now is to be able to close the account. I can't find out if ebay will hold me to the $10 or so seller fee, because I still can't access the account lol, but the chances of me paying it to them are literally zero. rant over.

tl;dr ebay customer service is some of the worst i've ever come across right now.

Hi. Maybe try https://www.facebook.com/eBayForBusiness. They tend to be quite helpful there and get to the root of issues. I hope it helps. I am guessing that you should have called eBay to help you with the transition over to Canada. It's possible the system thinks your account is compromised. Sorry to here that happened to you. Hopefully they can help you or at least help you close your account.
